Lippisch Delta Zero - Tamiya 1/48
« on: April 29, 2020, 01:22:48 AM »
Hi guys

Everybody knows who Alexander Lippisch was, right?  The aerodynamics pioneer with all those "crazy" design ideas.

What probably no one knows is that we was big in Japan (and not the Alphaville kind!  ;)  )

So, the Japanese Air Force did some experiments with the Lippiscsh Delta design, having for base a Zero fighter.

After the surrender of Japan, the americans brought the prototype back to the US and conducted some more tests.

Now imagine a beautiful  backup story based on the above lines!!! :)

In the meanwhile, please find below my vision of those events.

The inspiration...

The donor kit...

The needed surgery...

The culprit...

And the quasi-final assembly...

Thanks for watching, and keep safe!

Wonderful design!  :-*

Those sabre-like protrusions from the fuselage Lippisch's original design loo pretty interesting.

Lippisch meets Miyazaki.  :-*

The original kit looked great, but its rebirth is amazing! It might also look good as a pusher.

Besides being weird and cool  :-\  8) has just right amount of wing sweep, definitely there but not too much.
Plastic surgery on wing sweep & tips is tops.

Indeed, wasn't expecting that ! Looking really good . . .
I take it that's masking on the windshield, and will the canopy be re-fitted ?

cheers,
Robin.

Hi guys

Thanks of the comments. Indeed it looks weird :)

And I finally managed to finish it: Just some highlighting of the panel lines and the final matte varnish.

Please find below the photos.

In flight...

And landed... (just to prove that it can land :) )

With that shape, and colour scheme, you should rename it , the 'Hornet' . . .

With its Mitsubishi heritage, Asian Giant Hornet, perhaps?
