My plan is to turn this: Oriole 1 by cacree, on Flickr
Into this:B-26 Oriole by cacree, on Flickr
with a suitable backstory involving Brooks Robinson and the early-70s Mojave Air Races.

Oh my, that looks lovely  :-*  And what could possibly go wrong with a clipped-wing Marauder  ;)

Well, SOME of the reputation for high wing loading on the B-26 was overblown, but I thought with the dramatic weight reduction program of a racer, I could afford to lose a LITTLE wing area.  I'm not planning to clip much.   >:D

WITHDRAWN

Due to lack of time and mojo.

I will finish it someday, but I have no chance to make the deadline, even with an extension.  So, it goes into the "someday" pile.

I hope you do resurrect this one day, a very very cool project in the vein of Miss Ashley II and Blind Man's Bluff!

Well, i have been largely mojo-less AND short of modelling time, but I did manage to resurrect the Oriole project and complete it.  The originally intended backstory involved a certain retired professional baseball player with the Baltimore Orioles who, at the height of his career purchases a (built-in-Baltimore) B-26 Marauder and had it heavily modified to participate in the 1970 Mojave 1000 air race.  As I was researching to fill out the backstory, I found out that this very same retired professional baseball player is now the president of an organization whose aim is to protect retired pro athletes from having their names used without their permission.  Sooooo, forget the backstory and just enjoy the model.

As shown at the beginning of the thread, this started with the Hasegawa B-26F/G in 1:72.  Vertical tail came from an F-15, horizontal tails from an A-7, and the props were Quickboost Spitfire Mk. XIV resin.  The nose cone was also Quickboost, intended for a Su-27, but heavily modified.  Hope you enjoy the Oriole!

Everything about this build is awesome! Where to start!
Props: Awesome!
Tail: Awesome! (but Awesome! x 1000 if it had been a T-tail...)
Nose: Jimmy Durante-Awesome!
Colors - Awesome! I love the appearance of gray panel lines on the wings.

Thank you all for your kind comments.  Better late than never, huh?  Now to get to work on those two projects I had in mind for the Unmanned GB!
