MAF Ventura
« on: June 12, 2016, 02:55:29 AM »
My entry for this group build was inspired by this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9dpmp_-TY0) of a people group receiving the first Bible printed in their own language.  My model will (if all goes well) be a diorama depicting a much earlier, similar delivery to a different people group.  It is entirely made up, and I don't think MAF (Mission Aviation Fellowship) ever flew a Ventura, but it is meant as a tribute to the spirit of the endeavor.  Here are a couple of pics showing the starting point model (one of them), and the beginnings of the cargo door on the port side.

As wiki says:  The Salvation Army is a Christian church and international charitable organisation structured in a quasi-military fashion.

I think it could fit in here since it certainly doesn't advocate use of violence or have weapons...

Unless you consider brass instruments to be offensive weapons :-\

I am actually making SOME progress on this build.  I enhanced the cockpit slightly and completely scratched the cargo section.  Here is proof:

The proof is convincing...
I just understand the model is hold by a giant (with a normal hand, it is impossible to build such perfect details, so small!) ;)

A great idea for a build! While not Christian myself the work the MAF do is admirable. I saw one of their aircraft on static display at an airshow last year.

Fine work so far, keep it up!

Well, I've had a serious dearth of mojo over the last several weeks.  What little I have attempted lately has come out poorly.  I still hope to get the aircraft done in time, but the originally-planned diorama is definitely out.

Loss of mojo is a terrible thing.  Didn't make it.  Didn't even feel like trying in the last hours of the GB.  Maybe I'll post a pic of the mess if/when I ever complete it.   :icon_sueno: :-X

Well, I've had this "done" for some time.  Not terribly happy with it, but I thought I would post pics anyway.  Enjoy...

Well I like it  :)  My only complaint would be that it's really hard to see all that gorgeous interior details  :(

This build is a tribute to the spirit of the endeavor.  Ventura wears color scheme well.
Like that interior depicts humane nature of its missions.  Adds meaningful dimension.
Great build all around. :)

Thanks for the encouragement, guys!  It certainly looks better in the pictures than it did to me in my hand.  Sometimes, when your build just won't go the way it was in your mind during the planning stages, it can be quite discouraging.  But I appreciate very much the kind comments!
