I modified that proposed enlarged ventral pack to extend forward. But, it turns out RW, that BAC had put forward a very similar-looking fairing for their proposed variable-geometry wing variant - the BAC Sea Lightning FAW.1. In one variation, the foremost part of the ventral fairing housed two outward-swinging packs for 2-inch rockets.

That VG proposal matured into the land-based BAC Lightning F.7 concept which also featured cheek-mounted intakes, larger radome; an extended fuselage, relocated main gear, etc.

Really like the work on this. The modular pack mounts are very interesting around the extended belly tank. Which of course for RAAF work and distances involved would be high on the must have list for the RAAF Heads. Typically all RAAF fighter aircraft tend to lose a couple of hardpoints to have tanks as part of the loadout.
Got a Lightning or seven on the shelf, which of course include an Australian and an Indian version.
Now if only they got that far with the Buccaneer
