Title: SARO Torbay
Post by: Buzzbomb on March 09, 2018, 07:08:16 PM
Hopefully this will be ok for this Gb, it is a refubishment of an old resin SRA1 kit I have dredged out.

This is a real world prototype that began development for the Pacific campaign, so what if that went on until '46 ?

I reckon something like this will work for this GB Theme

Good!
Is this scratch-built or a commercial kit? (that I did not know) and which scale ?

1/72 Resin Kit, from some French Manufacturer (Jean-Pierre DUJIN ??), probably a good 15+ years old now.

I have gone with Torbay as SARO used a lot of place names for some of their aircraft and it was designed to operate from bays and inlets

Good subject matter

I started one years ago but it got packed for the house move I did and it's still buried in the boxes somewhere. The one I have is a Planet Models one, resin too.

It doesn't have to be RN though, the RAF operated flying boats too ---

I would say its too far along for the GB but I think you still have A LOT of work ahead of you so i'll allow it  ;D

Some kits fight the whole way!

Thanks, the basic construction was 11 parts, two fuselage halves, two wings and two tail planes, two float assemblies and a cockpit tub.
Like most resin kits, the "fun part" is getting it to fit and for the finish to be bubble free and acceptable.
Fit was ok.. bubble free and acceptable..well lets say, work is ongoing.

the end is nigh.. best I finish this up !

tidied it up a bit, really did botch it the first time around.
Went for a more traditional 46ish type scheme of FAA Grey over Sky.

The Torbay is fantastic, but I can’t even fathom the depths of your water-modeling skill!

The water is beyond words.   The only sadness is the SARO was such an ungainly aircraft.
