Title: Polikarpov I-16 л
Post by: AXOR on February 23, 2017, 08:07:30 PM
I will try to overcome this inactive modeling stage with a little airplane.
Probably not in Soviet service but rather in Spanish republicans AF...I will see.
The kit is Hasegawa in 1/72 with floats from AModel Bf-109 and KOR-1.

Thaks guys, now wish me luck.In past few years I finished two or three models being focused only on profiles.I hope I still have the skill and patience to finish a model.
Today I found this : http://www.aeroaces.com/1949i-16racer.htm (http://www.aeroaces.com/1949i-16racer.htm) someone has already thought of this

...therefore my model should look good in the end  ;D the hostilities begin from tomorrow  ;D

Thanks for this post. I hope your I-16L will be good also, with its normal canopy, not racer. :)

First day of work.
The floats need special attention, but some seperglue gel will fix any filling problem.

I'm liking this! The I-16's too manoeuvrable for its own good, these floats should help with that.

They sure as sugar will!

Maybe retractable tip floats? They'd act as airfoil winglets and increase lift and efficiency. Maybe somewhat compensate for the drag of the main float.

I think it may also need a larger ventral fin than the racing variant. Them floats are nasty on longitudinal stability, something the I-16 didn't have in abundance anyway.

Looking forward to this.  Putting floats on fighters is one of my favorite WHIF concepts, and this is a great one.

Unfortunately I couldn't continue working on this onel, but definitely I will finish it.I think I have a serious problem with deadlines when it comes to models.
With drawings is much more easier,in a day, maximum two,you can finish at least one.

I can totally relate to deadline issues, Mr Axor. I always enjoy your work and will very much look forward to seeing this one finished one day.
