Squadron MAil Order (http://www.squadron.com/ (http://www.squadron.com/)) recently updated their web page. One of the new features is the Mystery Deal, which changes at least daily. They offer a kit at often a very deep discount. For instance, today they're selling the 1:35 HobbyBoss AAVR-7A1 Assault Amphibian Vehicle Recovery for $15.99. Their usual price is $62.99 and list is $69.99.
I got the 1/35 Academy Ontos a couple of days ago for a huge discount.

Squadron Loss Lead for 20121019 is the Academy 1:72 F-22A (kit number MH12423) on sale price: $14.99 (http://www.squadron.com/product-p/mh12423.htm) MSRP: $41.00 normal Squadron price is $24.99. Quite attractive if you happen to like that particular aircraft.

Yeah, I picked up a book from them using that Mystery Box the other day. I am not disciplined enough to check it every day, but if anyone here is, go ahead and post when it's a book.

I was looking for the ICM airfield planks in 1/48 and 1/72nd scale. Found both but the price was not enticing enough to warrant purchase plus the cost of postage from Squadron or the competition at Sprue Brothers.

Some of their sci-fi stuff is out'a this world on price :o :o .... & not in a good way (20+% more than the usual shops I buy from).

The Daily Specials and the Mystery Deal are two different things.
Their list prices on the sci-fi stuff are the standard US list prices and the prices I see
in most general hobby shops. My guess is that their discounts aren't particularly good
due to low volume sales, ditto on the cars, trucks and bikes. Squadron's customer base
had traditionally been the military modellers.

You can probably get by with cheap plastic or glass equivalents from Harbor Freight, but in my experience, the Optivisor is worth the money.

Wow. Why so much? Would it be cheaper to have it delivered to an address in the US (on the border) then walking across and re-mailing it in Canada, or is it the Canadian Postal system that's the problem? Or is it because of Squadron's insistence on using UPS for everything?

Squadron is forcing us Canucks to use USPS International Priority mail.
