Technically EVERY design COULD have been built...  Trick is coming up with that all important reason  ;D

Well the P-47 jet was a white paper proposal for an aircraft that used tired and trusted tech with the new jet engines to be developed in parallell to the all new P-80. This was to be something of a hedge in that the modified plane was supossedly a lower risk that something all new. However as history shows it never went past the proposal stage probably becasue they didn't want to fund two experimental jets and it would cut into P-47 production.

Could always pass it off as an experimental modification of a production aircraft to test new technology instead of creating a brand new aircraft.  You could go on to say that it proved so successful that they ordered more conversions and/or put the modded design into production.  Justify it by extending the war and/or saying German Jet production was higher then it really was.
