1/144 Home world ship breakers : base runner ( completed )
« on: January 17, 2015, 07:35:54 AM »
Hello every one , I finally finished my 1/144 base runner . Procrastination really took hold of me with this one as I started it in august of 2013. When I first saw the vehicle premiered in a trailer for the game I knew I had to build it. I first set about finding photos of it on the internet , it wasn't easy though , I actually had to take screen shots from a you tube trailer for the game to get some of the angles for it. After building the first half of the model i noticed some discontinuity's in the concept art so i did my best to try and merge all of them together. I think the hardest thing was figuring out how to make the wheals. Some one on a different forum suggested i use the Tamiya Lunch box monster truck tires , they work pretty well for the model. I actually thought about getting wheals 3d printed but I found out that its a lot of money for that. I did do an interior for it and installed some yellow'ish orange lights in it. I will be taking it to Brookhurst hobbies in Fountain valley California where it will be on  display  if any of you live in CA and want to see it in person. I think this will be the first and last time I copy anything from a game or movie , its just to stressful making sure everything is exactly the way it should be. i might build another Home world ship breakers vehicle in the future. post any questions you might have.

Very impressive.  Having seen the trailer I think you captured 99.9% of the details with your model :)

The yellow could possibly do with being toned down a bit but, other than that, this is a brilliant build, D6++! 8)

WONDERFUL! Just amazing! You definitely nailed look of Baserunner! I also wanted to built it but after this I don't know if I'll even try. It could be a real shame. Great model!

It's simply fantastic!
The way you worked (deducing proportions and angles from trailers) would be enough to get an A+++ but the result in its whole is something absolutely astonishing, it looks like you had a box kit!
Bravo!!!

i didn't use just the trailers I mainly used this picture

I used a compass and was able to establish a scale using the measurement at the bottom ,  which I used to establish lengths and widths , I actually think I made the model a little too long and tall ,  if they had a front on picture with a scale on it I would have been able to get it closer. if you look closely the wheals look a little too small IMO. oh well.

Baserunners seems to have lots of evolutions, So I don't think any two should look alike. You should post up the in progress pics too, its always helpful  :)
