1/72 IDF Mech

hey so this is my first topic on this forum . Taiidantomcat found me on the Gear box software forum as i was posing some of my builds there because im a big fan of home world and am working on some builds from that universe, i had no idea there was a pure scratch building forum like this otherwise i would have joined a long time ago. so this is a build i finished some time ago its my rendition of what i think an IDF mech would look like, i used evergreen sheet styrean and some bits an bobs from some kits . i think the hardest part was just getting everything balanced so it would stand upright , the joints are just press fit together nothing fancy all thought i wish i could have used some sort of polly cap . i got the bolt heads from a local model train shop they are made by grand line, you know they come on a thing that looks like a little comb so one night i sat down turned on some trance and just laid it all out. i also made use of magnets so i could make the model modular, that way later on if i wanted to i could make new weapons stations.   armament : railgun on right side , MLRS launcher on left side , under slung 120mm gun , point defense 7.62x51 remote weapons stations on bottom corners,  anti air VLS section center top  and 57mm multiple role Gatling system for anti air and anti armor use

ill post work in progress pictures if you guys want

that's quite believable as a mech - unlike some of the Gundam stuff you see. I really love the fact you scratch built it - goes wayyy up in my stock exchange
I also really like the little figure to have as a size gauge. I mean, it looked big even before I saw the little man but then seeing it in scale - man that is one HUGE beast
Awesome way to make an entrance too! Welcome aboard

PS, if your happy to post 'em , we're happy to see the WIP shots - well, I am anyway. I won't speak for everyone :)

Hell of an entrance - welcome aboard!

That's highly impressive, and yes, in-progress shots are very much welcome.  8)

WOW!!! Love it!!

And yes, those ammo chutes are available. I forget the company name, but if you go on to ebay.com and under plastic models search "gatling" and they should come up.

when building this big you need to to think structurally, since its so big it is important to brace joints and use thicker plastic than .5mm sheet when at times i would use 1mm thick or double up .75 . the model is actually pretty heavy probably 2lb's , the joints where tricky because they are press fit together so the holes are just big enough to accommodate the pegs on the thigh parts. im  sure there is a better way of doing this by use of a poly cap or something.   you also need to figure out the center of gravity as that's where the feet will balance  the model at .
