Title: Avro Blackpool: single tail Lancaster
Post by: ysi_maniac on July 06, 2018, 04:32:05 AM
My entry in the RAF centenary GB in our sister forum.

Quick and dirty drawing in order to give some idea.

Models 1/96 Lancaster from Frog (I think) and a very obscure (and vile) 1/120 B-29 IDEA model (revell produced this too).

Great idea Carlos!  I hope it all comes together with the desired results.

I'm looking forward to seeing this one!

That's a very imaginative concept indeed.

Interesting!

But the big vertical stabilizer in the middle will not impair the gun turret operation, since it is very close?

The Short Stirling had a similar configuration but the distance to the gun turret was bigger.

Please find below a comparative diagram from wikipedia.

If an issue, the Lancaster B.Mk.X had its mid-upper turret moved forward. The Mk.Xs had Martin turrets but I've seen photos of Fraser-Nash 50 turrets moved forward as well.

Concur. The turret seems fine to me and given that relocating will be no small feat nobody would blame you for leaving it as is.
