Tamiya 1/24 Mercedes SLR McLaren
« on: June 18, 2018, 02:24:44 AM »
Hi all well I've decided to start this one, it's supposed to be a see through model but I didn't like the fact that the roof of the clear body had the Tamiya brand moulded into it which you could clearly see so I decided to spray the body a solid colour.

I'm really enjoying this kit, being Tamiya everything is a great fit, I'm loving the clever way they designed the rear and front windscreen, no gluing all push fit and I like that they supply masks for said windscreen anyway here's the next lot of progress.

Makes me think of an old beater I had once. I spent an afternoon replacing most of the quarter panel with Bondo. I lived in mortal fear of it all coming loose at speed.

No Bondo on this baby! Looking sharp!

Hi all It's finished I must say I enjoyed it.
Since I mentioned turning the 1/8 traction avant into a steampunk vehicle I think this looks like it would be fairly easy to turn into a steampunk vehicle so I may practice on this one first.

Nicely done, mate!

Personally, I think it has more of a dieselpunk vibe. ;)
