The Nicaraguan cartel that is part of my alternative timeline has a large number of ex soviet era vehicles and aircraft, alot of which belong in a museum. Nothing is let go to waste and if it runs it will get used.
Here is a build I have just finished, and is part of the Cartel's airbase defense contingent, the vehicle is an old T-34, modified to perform as a mobile anti aircraft unit.Although crude in appearance, the mash up is quite an effective weapon system, and other similar conversions are used by the cartel for securing captured air bases and runways. The kit is a Moldova 1/72nd scale T-34 with a ACE ZU-23-2 AA gun, slapped on the top. I have plans to do a flatbed Ural truck with the same gun on the back too.

Lovely. Reminds me of the recently shown Cuban conversions.
Cheers,

Looks great. Add some gun shields and it could double for convoy escort duty and other surface fire support missions.

I see you! Found your way here at last, have you?
Nice SPAAG mate - how about some Cartel henchmen hanging off the sides?

Thanks for the comments guys, I thought I had better get something new on here instead of bombarding you with my old stuff.Hya Jay I have been here a little while now, but have not been able to put any new stuff up as my modelling area is still out of action, and most of my materials tools and spares are put away :(. Still, with what I can get at I can still cobble some stuff together.

Nice one! :) Certainly wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of that!

Not only the guns fit/look well there; diamond plate like decking adds so much. :)
I should keep that in mind for when its right for an armor build some day.

When I have finished the Ural with the Zu-23-2 nailed to the back of it, I was thinking of doing a sort Gepard copy using a T-54/5 chassis and a pair of 37 mm guns fitted in a similar way to the Gepard, and also utilizing a radar for tracking and acquisition. I have a Tungusta packed away somewhere if I knew where that was I could dig that out and use it for reference and have its family portrait took too.
