This is the old FROG Typhoon from 1959.

I’ve scratchbuilt an interior, radiator, and float pylons. The propeller is from a Heller Tempest and the floats are of unknown origin via the scrapbox.

I’m not certain if this will be military or a demilitarized postwar Schneider Cup racer. It all depends on what decals can be sourced from my scrapbox.
More later.
Adios, Larry.

why not, put floats on everything else ;)
-
Now that's more like it! ---------
-
Good! (and lovely if it will be civilian...)
-
Nice concept, looking good.
My three ha'porth
I recon it would look good in coastal command colours grey/green upper white everywhere else, something like the coastal command Wellingtons. Could be used for anti-submarine/E-Boat patrols.
Or maybe as a defence fighter that is shot off a catapult on a capital ship.

Definitely a fleet defence fighter for the FAA. Beaverbrook's ruling in aircraft production would of course have been over ruled by Churchill (who remembered the fighters launched from capital ships in WWI), permitting the type to enter service in early to mid 1941 on the new and modernised battleships, battlecruisers and cruisers with cross deck cats and hangers for large aircraft such as the TSR (Swordfish) and Walrus.

Racer, please. The guns would probably have to go - unless the Schneider rules get drastic changes..... Any other speed mods?
-
Outstanding!
-
Fine build of one surprising floatplane subject.
Certainly be useful around the archipelago.
-
lovely indeed
make it red for the Schneider race ?
-
the floats are of unknown origin via the scrapbox.
They look like 1/48 Edo floats from the Otter kit, using some that look like that for my Bolingbroke floatplane.
-
Not a clue! I don’t build 1/48. They are thick plastic with no holes. My memory is like a rusted-out galvanized sieve with many gaping holes. Adios, Larry.
-
Looking great! And, my vote is for fleet defence too
-
That's an absolutely killer concept and it looks like you're off to a fantastic start!

She is finished. Brush-painted Testors Silver and top-coated with Future. The fictitious registration is from leftover decals from my Glencoe 1/48 Republic Seabee.
Pictured ready for trials for the 1947 Schneider Cup Trophy Race at Caldhot. The pilot is Flight Lieutenant A.R.P. Reilly-Foul.

Looking OOB kit of the real thing.
Markings are so correct too.
Good build, done fine.
-
That finished up beautifully! Looks fast in silver and love that racing scheme!

Beaudiful!
-
Great scheme! How did she do in the race?
-
Me also, I LOVE the final result! :-*
Thanks to have made it civilian!
-
Outstanding!!
-
Ok it wasn't my choice, but WOW it looks awesome, nice one !
-
fine !
-
Brilliant bit of history there, it is just so sad that it was beeten in the race that year by th Supermarine S8.
-

I know you went with the racer but I could really see a torpedo nestled between those floats

Or even an aerial depth charge! ;)

I almost went for overall Glossy Sea Blue and Royal New Zealand Air Force Pacific roundels. The chance to use my Green Civil registration decals trumped the military version. Adios, Larry.

Can you build a 2nd Tsunami in the above finish?
-
Memo to the Big Gimper!
No 2nd Tsunami. Too many other projects in the pipeline.
Thanks, everybody for the nice words.
Adios, Larry.
-
Beautiful floatplane Larry! I love it!
Antonio
PS I'd love to know what's in the pipeline then!
-
While I agree with Robomog on the fleet fighter, I really love the race finish. Maybe a prototype R.N. Fast mail plane, mail in the ammo/gun bays, fuel in floats, mail
in under wing paniers?
Any who, great whiffing Sir, great whiffing indeed.
