Anyone done a kit bash yet with the Ju-87G to create an anti-tank aircraft based on the Il-2?

Torpedo attack aircraft was developed but apparently never used in combat.  Would be interesting to see how the Il-2 would appear with a torpedo strapped to the underside of the fuselage.  With that oil-cooler on the centerline it might have to be mounted off center to accommodate it.

Jeff, colour me confused by the Il-2 already is an anti-tank aircraft and designed from the start to be.  They had various armament fitouts, including I believe up to 37mm, but not podded like the Stuka.  The Ju-87 is the interloper, being developed into an anti-tank platform later.

I can't recall the company, but one of the Eastern European manufacturers did a run of Il-2s including the Il-2T complete with torpedo.

One of Greg's profiles (twin Il-2), modified with some extra power and longer tailbooms!

Cheers,

I had a similar idea but it would have been a bit more conservative in appearance with engines mounted on the wings of a single fuselage.  Plenty of room in the middle for a couple of larger cannons and I suspect the bomb load would have been increased as well.

I don't know...some North Vietnamese Il-2Ms or Il-10s operating in a CAS role could have been a nightmare for US and allied troops...I can also picture a A-1 and a IL-10 in a lowdown dogfight!

Following on from the previous idea...and thanks to the new book I just got ("Dragon's Wings-Chinese Military Aviation Since 1949" by Andreas Rupprecht ("Deino"))...a real world Chinese turboprop Il-10:

Oh I  like that!  :-*

I have a vague background idea for a role-reversal Vietnam-like situation with the Russians being directly engaged and the west supporting the opposition at arm's length (Afghanistan in the jungle, basically). That would fit in a treat as a Skyraider equivalent.....

Speaking of which:

Now, how about one of these with folding wings and arrestor hook and suitable naval scheme ...

what is the inspiration for the IL-10 fiaf experimental camo and do you have any other views of this wonderfully painted bird?
I have a il-2 m 3 from eduard in 1/72 that I think would look perfect in that scheme. no idea where it would fit in for any whiff-world but I think it needs to be done. Period

What about an early jet-powered IL-2/IL-10?
A Yakovlev Yak-15 Feather-type jet engine arrangement [The turbojet being arranged to exhaust beneath the fuselage in a stepped configuration, known in Russian as “redan.”] incorporated into/on to the IL-10 fuselage, in place of its piston engine, as was so simply and successfully done with the Yakovlev Yak-3 piston-engined fighter!
Or if more thrust is required, a two-jet engine configuration like that of the Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-9 Fargo could be applied to the IL-10 fuselage!

Any chance of you coming up with these profiles ysi_maniac :P??
