I'll moderate if that's agreeable.

Q on the blue used in the Scottish Flag: So, I *thought* the Union Flag was made up a composite of flags, the Scottish St Andrews Saltire forming the white X and blue background. But on many Scottish flags I see the blue is not the Navy Blue of the Union Flag, but more of a Royal Blue. Is there an "official" colour for the blue on the Scottish Flag?

Historically azure/sky blue as the Cross of St. Andrew appeared as white clouds in a blue sky:

To clarify:  an aircraft in the markings of an independent Scotland fit in this GB?   A number of machines in NATO's Helmet come to mind.

Given that this is currently such an emotive subject within Scotland, regardless of individual politics and leanings one way or the other, I don't feel particularly comfortable with the issue potentially being reduced to a tartan and bagpipes parody.

No doubt your submissions will be as outstanding as always but I think I'm going to sit this one out.

A reasonable concern Claymore.

All I can say is that mine certainly isn't intended to fall into that category, nor does it actually represent my personal views/hopes/fears about the politics at all.

I really don't mind the banter either - 28 years of military service does that to you  ;)   I'm not really sure what it is...  I just know that I don't have it in me to do no damned tartan tanks!  :o ;D

Manly? Funny this one doesn't look very 'manly'.

Lassies wear kilts too ye know.  ;D

Kilt, lava lava, fustanella or skirt, all describe the same basic thing, and gender differentiation
is in the mind of the beholder.

When not competing in the Inverbogie Highland Fling Festival, Big Jock MacTavish was a spot welder in the Govan Shipyards.  You don't get much manlier than that!   ;D

I know somebody who wears a DPM kilt to biker rallies. Brave man, but not as brave as the one who used to get dressed up in full drag for the evening!  ;D

Having said that I'm going to sit this one out as a track-head, JP Vieira's outstanding profile has got me to thinking of dabbling into the world of aircraft.  God forbid!!  :o
