Hey, everyone...
I figured I'd introduce myself with this post. One of my hobbies is creating alternate-reality flags for either alternate "real-world" nations and groups, or fictional-universe organizations and groups. I figured that maybe some of you here might want to use some of these alternate flags in fictional aircraft profiles. Anyway, below is the first set:
Republic of Cyprus (AU Earth)

Arab League of Emirates (AU Earth)
Texas Reach (AU Earth)

Kingdom of Gath ("Kings" - NBC)
Republic of Emmeria (Ace Combat)
More to follow.

Welcome aboard. Certainly some interesting options there.
-
Always nice to have a tangent to slide along with regards to aircraft markings to be sure. Some nice stuff there, look forward to more.
-
Ooooh....nice!!

Thanks, folks! Here are some more:
Empire of Japan (AU Earth)

Australian Confederacy (AU Earth)

Federative Republic of Brazilia (AU Earth)

Would you be able to do the following for me:
People's Democratic Republic of Nippon. This would be a northern half of Japan that was under Soviet Influence (much like Nth Korea or East Germany) following WWII. I would also be keen to see any suggestions for roundels for this.
Regards,
Greg

Hi BolianAdmiral,I like all your imaginary flags and I hope you don't stop here...there are so many possibilities ;)
-
Thanks, guys! Rest assured, there are more to come. GTX_Admin, I apologize, but I generally don't do requests... I used to, but people kept asking for more and more stuff, and aside from becoming extremely overwhelming, some of the designs asked for were just too difficult for me to accomplish, and thus, didn't reflect what was in the mind's eye of the person making the request, which often resulted in requests for do-overs, which I won't do. However, what I would consider doing is a trade... I will create a custom flag for you, in exchange for a custom aircraft profile. Please let me know if this is an acceptable compromise. Here are some more:
Federal Republic of Germany (AU Earth)
Italian Republic (AU Earth)
Republic of Ustio (Ace Combat)
Principality of Belka (Ace Combat)
New York (AU Earth)

More to follow.

I would consider a trade. the only issue might be that I generally don't do coloured profiles pre sae. I prefer to do line drawing type profiles (blame the old engineer in me ;)) such as this:

Now, if that is the sort of thing you are after, then we can deal...

Hmmm... I'll have to think about it for a while, because I really have a specific color livery I'd like to see on a certain aircraft. In the meantime, here is my latest:
Canadian Free Hold (AU Earth)
-
Can you explain what is meant by the last one? I'm not sure what Canadian Free Hold refers to...I may be missing the obvious though. ;)
-

"Free Hold" is kind of difficult to explain, because we have no real analogy to it here on our own Earth. Basically, think of it as another way to say "Colonies", in a similar context to how America was once a colony of England... we had our own states and territories, but were governed by a single King. The USA itself now, could also be used as an analogy, in that all our states fall under the authority of the President and the Federal Government. However, that is where such an analogy would stop, because in other ways, the Free Hold is more like a Confederation, meaning that states and territories are completely free to cede from the Free Hold and set themselves up as independent governments at any point, so membership in the Free Hold is voluntary. That's the best way I can describe it.
-
I think I understand now. Thanks. Keep up the great work.

GTX if you do the linedrawing I can do the rest

That works for me :)

Aye, that is acceptable... I will begin working on your custom flag tomorrow, GTX_Admin. Here is one last flag for the night:
Scandinavian Union (AU Earth)

Niiiice !

Some great flag designs you done. Glad to have you on-board! Back when Google offered the Picnik photo editor, I used it to make flags for my various "Imagi-Nations". It is a rather fun and addictive hobby within a hobby.

Thanks, folks... glad you like them. :)
-
Stylish and thought provoking too!

Thanks. Yeah, I don't make flags that simply "look cool"... I try very hard to consider the meaning of a nation's flag, and the reason why each color is chosen, when I make an alternate design, because flags have history and meaning behind them. They represent a culture and its history.
So, I was wondering if for my custom aircraft profile, if I could see an F-22 Raptor in the "Jolly Rogers" scheme? Please let me know if this is doable.
-
Have you checked that a F-22 Jolly Rogers hasnīt been made already? Its a pretty popular scheme
-
I have seen a couple, but the problem is that they are all quite small... I would like something that I can actually make out most of the detail on, or use as a desktop wallpaper.
-
Here's a new one I whipped up:

I am sure we can come up with something. I have some line art already.

Greg

This is the actual flag of the Japanese Communist Party:
Using the Kyokujitsu-ki in a Communist Japanese flag would be like the USA keeping the Union Flag after the American Revolution.
-
Happy either way.

Thanks... I appreciate it!
AGRA: I wasn't even aware the Japanese had a Communist Party chapter, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I don't feel bad in saying I kind of prefer my version better... I like to use color in more bold and visually striking ways. Just my two cents.

I invite you to join Deviantart (if you already haven't) and post some of your flags here. http://mapsandflags.deviantart.com/ (http://mapsandflags.deviantart.com/)

Here's a new one, from the old 1990's TV show "Sliders"... it's the flag of Republica de Nueva Espaņa, an alternate Earth where California is part of Mexico. This is the exact flag that appeared in the episode, and the colors are not only the same, but are the exact RGB colors used on Mexico's flag.

Here's another new one... the flag of the Soviet Naval Command.
