MIG 29 UAV Recon Platform - Done
« on: November 10, 2018, 05:18:42 PM »
Time to put up again.
two weeks left so why not slam a quick one together

How about this, the Grafix MiG 29, although the box top is a little perplexing

But for $5 from K-Mart.. not really caring that much

Now when I mean quick build how about this. A short video about 18mb in size
www.modelblokez.org.au/bthpix/whatif/migs/migbuild.mp4

Well that is the easy bit done :o

Looks interesting.  My other reaction is "there's still somewhere with K-Marts?"  They left this state over a decade ago.

*chuckle* Wonder if they are under different ownership than the ones in this country?  The operator in the US is going bankrupt and closing a host of Sears and K-Mart stores (what K-Marts have not already been closed).

K-Mart in Australia is owned by the Coles-Myer group of companies.

Who they are owner by is beyond my care factor.

I might be wrong here (there's been so many big chains getting taken over or merged with another I'm losing track), but I think all the K-Marts in Canada got taken over by WalMart

Who knew that K Mart was so interesting  ???

So, anyway, the build is just about done, not that I have done much
Remove canopy area and replace with part of a droptank to make some sort of intake. Plus bung on a refuelling probe

Some stores, I figured that old nicely streamlined Mi-21 tanks still look groovy and a recon pod, Jammer Pod and probably a KSh-27 Kegler Anti Radar missile for opportunity targets. Somehow I think I have buried the landing gear area, so plan to move the tanks outboard a bit

Whip on some paint and should make the deadline

Good start   Is the intake in the old cockpit area for cooling avionics or some such?

Start ? That was pretty much  it;D and yes the intake is something like that.
As the kit was so horrid I did not want to expend too much effort on it.

So here we are. Done

Some beauty shots

Tried a bit of Frank's 3D business as well and printed the MIG logo, probably the best bit of the model  ???

Great idea, Brian, :D but I'm afraid I don't think the paint job's anywhere near your usually high standard :(

That's one very sharp conversion and an incredibly plausible whiff with an excellent paint scheme!

Most excellent!

I agree on the appearance.  The term "reconnaissance in force" would seem applicable here (got the term from Drake and Flint's Belarsarius series for Baen.
