Real World Build - Supermarine Scimitar
The Supermarine Scimitar was a British naval fighter aircraft operated by the Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm. The prototype for the eventual production version flew in January 1956 and production aircraft were delivered in 1957. It saw service with the Royal Navy from 1958 until 1969, replaced in service by the Blackburn Buccaneer.
This is my only real world build for over 30 years. It is a Scimitar from Merlin Models which I purchased off of EvilBay several years ago. It has been painted with a hairy stick and Vallejo paints. The decals came in the box and represent an aircraft from 803 Squadron FAA operating off of Ark Royal.

Rarely see Scimitar builds. Reminds me sorta of melding Mig-19 and Buccaneer.

Great build Brian. Very jealous that you have one.
The Scimitar is so on my wish list but I can't afford the CMR kit. At Hannants: CDN $120.76
Time is ripe to produce one in Styrene.

Look for an XtraKit injection one Carl. I've got one of those in the stash.

Beautiful job from what I remember as not the best kit (I have a Merlin one somewhere in my southern auxiliary stash). I managed to find a good combined deal in the CMK one with the wingfold kit (US$125 for both minus shipping) and I have managed to acquire more than one of the Skybirds 86 ones.
We can hope that Airfix decides to fill the hole and produce a quality 1/72 one.

Damn, I feel real blessed now. I just bought a CMR on eBay for US 27.50 including shipping. I still need about 10 or so to cover all the planned variants.

I just picked up an Xtrakit one, also. abot $18 including s and h. I gather Hannant's has the molds. I don't think it would ever be a big seller, but maybe they could run 100 or so now and then for their mail order business.
