Title: Tankenstein
Post by: Feldmarschall Zod on January 29, 2013, 02:51:31 AM
For the life of me,I can not come up with a title for this build. It is the Academy M51,with a turret from a DML M46.

It will be an Israeli tank. Post after the fall.

You could call it Tankenstein.

Dude.
That is brilliant. I just may try to hand paint that onto the model. ;D

You should run Brian's suggestion through Google Translate - it's far more clever (although it comes out as "Stone Tank".)

The paint on. I am not sure if I will add any camo.

I like the way this is coming along. I think you need to camo it. I recommend you use bands of a second color, like a medium gray ,perhaps. And as a nice touch ,only paint the "outside faces" of the storage boxes.   I can't wait to.see your next post ...

Tanks Father. What do you mean by only painting the outside faces of the storage boxes?

Tracks on. I used the old DML M46 indie links for her. I know technically the guide horns are not for a Sherman. I tried building the AFV Club T80  workable links. I need three or more hands to make them. :icon_twisted: I do not know of anyone who makes indie T80 links.

The grey swath on the bottom is Testors field gray. How would that look as camo?

I actually like more of the sand color she is now.  If you painted her like a Super Sherman, it would make the occasional JMN do a double take.

Cheers,

Logan

I like the solid color. Some careful weathering should make it pop.

The start of the weathering. Tankenstien is hand painted in Yiddish.

Looking great, Zod! I'm glad to finally know how to spell Tankenstein in Yiddish. You never know when that'll come in handy.

You're in the home-stretch with this wonder!

Like this build in every way.  :)
Has serious turret bustle.  Well named - Tankenstein
Also like treatment of details  :)
Does Pig-Latin work with Yiddish ?

As Logan said, you'll certainly cause some double takes with this one; nice!!!!  8)

Thanks everyone. :)
Here are some more pix. The symbol on the searchlight cover is the Kryptonian Z. I do need to add a wire for the searchlight. I am off to see if I can find some pix of it.

I am not sure if I will brush on any sand pigments yet.

I like it! :)

I would have liked to see a little bit of a shade difference on the mantlet cover (a bit of khaki, perhaps) with a (khaki) undercoat exposed by chipping & cracking of the paint on the cover. Basically just exposing the canvas used which often absorbs the paint & then flakes it off quite quickly.

But that's just me being picky & asserting my tastes, so it doesn't really count (certainly not as a criticism).

Cheers!

Thanks Guy. :) If I thought I could do some scratching good,I would have done it. At times,I really hate the weathering process.

Does this look better with the blue background?

Or white?
