Well, y'all have gone and done it. All the great builds and comments has inspired me to build an aircraft (VTOL), which I have not done in 30+ years. It will also be my first group build. I dug out some kits from my stash upstairs (very very old kits) for an idea, don't have many aircraft kits, so it will not be super detailed.
Project Siberian Tiger - a SU-25 converted to VTOL.
After the development of a light weight - high output jet engine for the naval aircraft to be used on the new super carriers, the Soviet ground airforce used the new engine to develop a VTOL ground attack aircraft to replace the old Hinds.
Something like that......
Kits to be used - 1/48 SU-25
1/32 and 1/48 AH-64
Pictures to come soon !
-
??? :D Do you mean a Su-25 with rotors? Good! (maybe not for war but for fun!) ;)
-
Looking forward to seeing what this turns out like Steve.

No rotors, more like the V-22 with rotating jet engines mounted mid wing.
-
Sounds like fun!

Liking the look of this one Steve.

Oo-ooh! Shiny! :D
-
A quick tease -
The old intakes will have 23mm rotary cannons.

Wow! :-*
-
"Oh, myyyyyy!"
-
This is gonna be good!
All I ask is please close up the old intake around the guns so it doesn't look like someone stuffed a gun into the engines. You probably thought of that already.
I'll be watching this one!
-
Looking good :)
-
And that is how you do that! :-*

Russian VTOL gunship -
My first aircraft in 30+ years, took me out of my comfort zone, but think I will stick to armor and hovercraft.

Wow that is not what I expected, brilliant!
-
Amaze-balls! The camo is just icing on this Soviet/Russian cake. Looks like it means serious business.
-
It certainly has that Warsaw Pact "There is no kill but overkill" look to it.
-
Superb :-*
-
Wow. If this build was not in your comfort zone, I can't wait to see a build in your comfort zone.
-
Thank you for the kind words. :) :)

Stunning

Super build and great paint.
Well done.

Right stuff all the way: concept-build-finish :)
Guns in former intakes are top idea and Hollywood style. Canted rudders add distinction.
-
Once again I must say, "Wish I had thought of that!"
Great work!
-
:-* This model is so good, it cannot be "just a model". After you presented it, and showed the final result, now it is probably under construction scale 1 in Russia!
-
... think I will stick to armor and hovercraft ...
Yeah, you do that, no more flying anything for you, ever, my fractured ego and collapsing modelling mojo don't need no more pushin' to the wool and knitting needles thank you very much Mr damned fantastic Soviet VTOL attack aircraft master mister thingy ....
... [grumbles off stage left drooling and wondering how much the latest Butterick crochet pattern costs] ...

Very, very cool! 8)
Has a mild Gerry Anderson flavour to it. :)
-
Excellent stuff - looks like it could fly escort for the Aliens dropship! 8)
