I'm normally a plane guy, but now and then I like a change.

July 27th, 1959. Sea of Japan, 43.3 miles off the coast of Korea, 04.00.  A periscope breaks the surface of the sea, it turns as the operator
looks around to ensure no other vessels are present. A submarine surfaces, dark and ominous. It does not stay long. Just long enough to launch two brand new cruise missiles. Minutes later the neutral zone between the two Korea's suffers two large explosions which both sides blame on the other.
Korean peninsula war number two has begun, and those responsible can start testing new weapon systems in someone Else's back yard.

Once hostilities are again under way in Korea, allies begin sending support.  Trying initially to stay true to the 'rules' re equipment, older materials were provided.
Two former Japanese landing support ships, used for training, were sent to Australia for upgrading and refurbishment. They were joined by two O class destroyers, drawn from the Aussie reserve fleet, and, most odd, a former German Z class destroyer, used by the U.S. For gunnery and radar trials, was also handed over to South Korea.

Thus began the build up of the South Korean fleet for the second Korean war.

But here is the backstory: The Fridges of Toko Ri (http://beyondthesprues.com/Forum/index.php?topic=7901.msg142126#msg142126). It will help you grasp the important role the AV-8X played in the Second Korean War.

Carl,

Fantastic on all counts, especially in the conception.

But ... the paint job is especially nice, as it looks freehand, and flawless.

And great décalcomanies, as they say in Quebec.

all best
