Some time ago I have ideas for two whiff versions of Baracuda:
First, a land based dive-bomber. After the fall of France, the British, being impressed by Stukas attacks, they begin to seek their own counterpart: they decide to make two-seat, land version of the Barracuda. Work would be accelerated during the Battle of Britain. New aircraft would attack the German invasion fleet. Losses suffered by Stukas over England cause the slowdown of production and dispatch of the first series planes to North Africa, where Barracudas are successfull in attacking German supply columns, but plagued by faults caused by dust. Type would be developed, and in Italy and Normandy, "Land Barracudas" operate as a FAC aircraft, homing fighters on detected gruops of german tanks, and use own bombs and rockets.
Another would be high altitude meteo recon version with longer wings and pressurised cockpit: this planes would operate over Northern Atlantic with suite of meteorological instruments and photographic camers, to provide Allies meteo service newest data from "cradle of weather" over North Atlantic. Imagine that: "planes that saved Overlord". Colours? Mix of FAA, Costal Comand an PRU.
