Let's see what happens when the fuselage of an old Airfix Fiat G-91 is mated with the wings and tail of an old Revell P-39 and few odd parts are thrown in just for fun.

I got off to a slow start with this. Anyway, the last few days have been productive and I have completed major surgery. Tomorrow I start PSR.

Making some progress. Don't have much time left to finish this one.
Here it is with the bottom painted light gray and a coat of desert tan on the top. About half way through masking the top before the final color is sprayed.

From earlier pictures to now G-73 has taken on lotta character. :)
"Spots" masking is really interesting. I sense good results coming your way.

Actually, a "close coupled canard" is a practical design. Check out WIKI: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canard_(aeronautics)
Like the SAAB Viggen, this design features a fixed foreplane with movable flaps.

Have to say that with a coat of primer on it makes a big difference. Looking forward to seeing your finished camouflage scheme.

By the early 60's it was apparent to Fiat and Avia that they couldn't survive trying to compete globally with the big a/c companies and their big supersonic, high altitude super fighters. But it was also becoming clear that COIN and Civil Wars were likely to be the wave of the future rather than big powers battling in all-out massive warfare. The G-73 was designed to be simple to operate, able to operate out of unimproved forward airfields. It fly and maneuver at lower altitudes and airspeeds than the big fast jets that were getting all the attention. It's low speed low, altitude capabilities combined with a pair of 20mm cannons and six weapons stations meant the pilot could find the target and bring effective firepower to the enemy. It proved to be a successful design and a number were sold internationally and were successful in local conflicts around the globe.

Definitely came out looking good Ed! Really like the camouflage pattern you came up with. Your weapons load out looks impressive too.
