I was not going to participate on the ATF GB but I had an inspirational moment.
Here is my WIP Grumman J4F-3 "Mother Goose" 1944 FAA SAR aircraft. This is the ancient Airfix J4F which I bought for the USCG decals but I found a use for it. The kit is simple but like all kits of that era, horrible fit. The alignments pins are all too big, you need to add styrene shims etc.
The tail is from a Revell 1/144 E-2C, the drop tanks are from a P-51 and the round observer windows from a 1/72 Shackleton.
I sawed off the tail, I rounded the new fins as that was the style, glued them on upside down, I closed up the 2nd set of fuselage windows, drilled out the round observer windows, added the drop tanks and will add some cockpit filler.
The paint scheme will be GSB with yellow bands with FAA decals probably from a F4F.
