Guys, Carl recently brought this up (yes, he does do more than just bad jokes and argue the virtues of pineapple on pizzas):
Yo peeps! I just had the brain fart that it will be 10 years ago this coming December 11th that BTS was formed. :-* :icon_beer: :D
So I was wondering if there will any formal forum activities around this? This may include some sucking up to OGL.
One suggestion is a 10 month long group build based on the number 10.
Your build must have a minimum of 10 of something. IE 10 guns, wheels, wings, windows, people (10 bodies or one body with 10 limbs), tracks (not links :icon_punal:), turrets, bombs, shells, torpedoes, rockets, missiles, engines, propellers, smoke stacks, antennas, cargo items, rolls of toilet paper etc. Extra credit for the builds which have multiples of 10.
It would start this December 11th. I'd be willing do donate a prize to a winner. There should be at least 10 winners.
Thoughts?
This is one idea. We're keen to hear others.
-
start it on December 10th not the 11th!
-
Good one Carl  I love this GB suggestion almost as much as pineapple on pizza :-*
-
Me too : almost as much as pineapple on pizza :-*

Good catch Frank! You get 10 of out of 10.
How about it starts at 10:10:10 on December 10th UTC?

Reminds me of that joke when the Lone Ranger asks Tonto what the time is, the reply was ten ta ten ta ten ten ten ten ---- (I'll get me coat---- )

(Looks at the sketches for Dr. Yo's Deadly diabolical decapod of Death, Destruction, Decapitation, Disease, Defenestration, Decaffination and DOOOOM!, then at the remote controls for the Orbital Mind Control lasers*, smiles.)
I think it's a fine idea...

how about Greg divvying up his stash between the membership?

It would be easier for him to divvy up most of kits amongst the worldwide modelling community. That way everyone gets at least 1000 kits and he gets to keep a modest 10,000 or so.
-
That's it. you're both on the list! :icon_vader:

So true, his ability to collect and not build is beyond compare!
I thought I was doing well but my entire stash fitted in one shipping container and is currently in transit to my new abode, Greg would need a convoy of container ships.

You're on the same continent as Greg. How do you know that your kits aren't really his identical kits that he's stored in your shipping container?
-
I automatically assume he has at least three of anything I've got

I blame work...70+hr weeks saps one's time
I automatically assume he has at least three of anything I've got
Honestly, it is very rare for me to have more than 1 of any particular kit or even of type.

Hmmm...so I can annex other stashes? Hmmm....

Stash has multiples of some. Maybe time for new count of B-36.
-
Having seen your stash Bill I am comfortable that mine is dwarfed...
-
Peaked interest so did B-36 count.
1/72 40, and 4 built used ones
1/144 13
1/184 17
-
Bill - I figured you had close to 100 1/72 B-36s...
How about making the 10Yr Anniversary builds around Cephalopods, Cndarians and Gastropods? They all have tentacles...

Frank - Are some 1/720 B-36. When located will count. With them total likely does approach 100.

When I first glanced at this I misread it as 1720 B-36s...yikes!! :o ;D
-
I wonder what Monogram's 1/72 B-36 production numbers were like. I bet Bill owns more than anyone else.
-
I've got five of them although one is a vacuform the others are the Monogram/Revell kit. ;)
One almost completely built too
-
Your model display looks like one of the old Airfix boxtops with all that outrageous action.
-
In the house we had in Calgary, it was the only place I could store them, there was a couple of hundred up there on the ceiling. Right now, they're still packed in the moving boxes, 14 years later :-X
-
I had one, I built it but couldn't but the wings on permanently, too big . . . it went in a house move . . .
cheers,
Robin.
-
Enlarged picture 2X for study. Do you recall what shows under nose of B-36 ?
-
Hmm! lets see ---
CF-100 Mk.4 and in the background, a group of F-84's of various marks, a F-89 and a Pogo

Count me in
I have no idea what to build yet but count me in ;)

Frank:
I appreciate your scientific tenure but your tenaciousness with all things tentacular is untenable.
This request has a tenebrious theme to it which it has a tendency to add tension to the build.
We will use a tensiometry to measure the tenebrific nature of your suggestion.
The tenantry will convene behind the tenaille and get back to you.
PS: ;)
PPS: There are 647 words that begin with "ten"

I'm disturbed that you know that

Actually 637. I was off by ten. Oh the irony.

637? :o Good thing there's copy+paste, then. Typing them all out would surely give one tendonitis.

Thanks for picture. Remember one at 60s airshow. Not sporting paint scheme nice as model.

Thanks Bill, one of my earlier builds after getting back into the hobby back in the '80's.
