Using 2 kits picked up at the last show, an AFV Club Stryker MGS and a Hobby Boss Merkava ARV. I scratch built the skirt with experience from the King Ghidorah skirt, went much better this time. It will have the Strykers MGS.

Wow! I'm already liking this.
It'll be a big beast, won't it?

Wow! Off to a great start with this project!

Mastiffs tend to be large ...
-
Yesssssssss !!!!!
Great vision so far on this, I am really liking this layout.
-
Oh, yeah! Can't wait to see where this goes, Steve! :D :D
-
Off to a good start - carry on! (Mastiffs have pretty powerful jaws, too, as I recall.)
-
Awesome!
The Merk really dwarfs the MGS, I thought you were scale bashing for a second!
-
Is better with each picture. Definitely gunna be good one.

The Merkava is considerably wider but not, actually, that much longer than the Stryker platform; Steve has just put a fairly significant extension in near the rear of the tank hull.

This is going to be so cool.
-
Turret added and some more details. It scales out to be 31x19x12 feet. Bigger than a M1 MBT and smaller than a SR.N6.

Looks really good! Is the fan in the background part of the propulsion system?

That fan is from Snap-On Tools and is so cool !! When turned on it has the time and temp displayed on a led chip (?) that spins with the fan.
-
Cool! It's a POV (persistence of vision) LED display.
-
Just great. I have a very, very old metal 15mm gaming Grav tank from the GDW Traveller miniature range that has very similar lines, that is part of the reason I love this build
-
I wonder about making bigger windows to disguise the source of the upper upper hull, or something less traditional for a main gun?
I love how this gets rid of the most and second most tedious part of AFV's - tracks and roadwheels!!
-
Thanks for the ideas Gingie, I have some bumps and boxes that might help break up the Stryker shape. Also going to put a .50 cal mount in the Stryker's driver hatch. Thought about a square tube main gun barrel, but it did not look right to me on the Stryker turret. The big thing now is deciding on a color scheme.

The big thing now is deciding on a color scheme.
Sometimes "anything goes" makes it harder to pick colours. I can say that, Hexagons are IN! Tiger stripes are OUT! Hover tanks are so hot right now!
If the skirt is means to be some kind of flexible rubber, you could go nuts with the chipping of a temporary winter or desert scheme as the lower hull flexes. Or maybe its a USN vessel... or USCG with the orange stripe on white ???

Nice greebling! 8)
Just wondering what the Stryker mirrors* on the back are going to be? ???
The .50cal in front of the driver reminds me of something from one of the Hammer's Slammers stories; but I last read them about 15 years ago & can't recall the full details, now. :-\
[*: The left side one's slightly crooked. You know that, right? ;)]
-
Various air intake features make perfect sense and the rest falls into place.
On a roll, keep going !
-
Just wondering what the Stryker mirrors* on the back are going to be? ???
ECM Sensors - they will be flat black along with the big one under the smoke dischargers and the 2 smaller boxes on the angle next to the .50 cal mount. Crooked it shall be, too late now it is
Hammer's tanks and combat cars had a crew served tri-barrel laser mount.......
-
Not all vehicles had tri-barrel power-guns mounted in front of the driver, it was the "hero" vehicle, & it was mentioned as an unauthorised addition that Hammer tolerated/allowed because the tank was usually the lead vehicle in any assault. But that's not important!
The Stryker mirror thing was a "Thank the gods, he's Human!" moment. ;)
Still masterful work, as usual, though.
-
Good thing you can't see all the mistakes that are covered up or have been fixed / redone ......... :-[ :-\ :-[
-
What a beast! And I say that with admiration and sincerity, as massive as that thing is it still "looks light on its feet" and fast enough to get out of harms way if necessary.
-
Hopefully its at least as maneuverable as a SR.N6 ( ? with more power and control ? )

That's a good camo pattern - it really breaks up the shape.

Are you going for a winter/arctic warfare camouflage scheme? Looks good!

Not in particular, the tan turned out lighter than I wanted. Hope the washes will darken it.

Cry havoc! and let slip the dogs of war!
Another amazing build from SLB Heavy Industries.
-
It's a brute.
Love it :icon_alabanza:
-
Totally tooo good. Awesome effect between design and paint. :-*
-
Turned out great! I like the airbrushing within the hard edge cam, gives it a multicam inspired look. Really terrfic!

Awesome job! The details and weathering are fantastic.

Yep, that turned out great!
-
Looking fine as this, has to be deployable. It all adds up between design and attention to details.   Very much 21st century.

So few words to describe this...

So cool ! :P

Loving it - great work! :-* :-* :-*
