The original design did call for either a 5-inch gun or two 3-inch guns, but I guess I just forgot about it while building.
Sounds like something I'd do, for sure.

Looks great.

Amazing build.  :)
Work in progress ::

I am giving up listing them. They all end up on the shelf of procrastination anyways.

The inspiration for the Izumo build:

And the next 2 projects.

An escort for the Izumo stovl. Putting SAMPSON/PAAM on a Takinami, also relocating funnels to the center-line:

Project involving these parts, anyone care to hazard a guess?

The US appears to be revisiting the concept of a light carrier, well at least Senator McCain is, so I wonder if something like this may be on the cards again going forward.

Isn't that what the America class was supposed to be? But as much as I'd like to see a new build light carrier, I highly doubt it's going to happen.

Anyway CGV escort frigate complete:

As for the third project I was going for was a SWATH carrier inspired by this concept art:

If there's an extension I'll get on it, otherwise I'll put it in my regular ship thread.

Looks like to SWATH uses two cruiser hulls. Might be an easy Whif

No, SWATH hulls are very different see below:

The SWATH concept puts most of the hull flotation below the catamaran's waterline to greatly reduce wave action on the hull. Sort of like building a ship on top of two submarines.

Finally after much procrastination and design I begin construction of my SWATH carrier:

Cutting it close deadline wise, but I have the day free so I hope to have quite a bit done soon.

Are you going with something big enough for CATOBAR or a smaller skiramp or LHA sized carrier?

Nothing huge or fancy, it's based on the concept art I posted a few posts up, has a ski-jump and is about 147m long (the model will be 210mm long, the width of an A4 sheet of paper I used to sketch the design).

Hangar space fits 6 harriers comfortably and some odd helicopters, airgroup is mission dependent though.

Didn't get as much done as I thought I would, we'll see how I go tomorrow.

Guess I was a bit too optimistic.

Not gonna make it with this one.
