Although I stopped building models in 2013 I still retain a substantial pictorial archive. However I've never published anything after I stopped building. This will be an exception because it's a model that transitions into a 'digital vignette'' - a hybrid image...

Thanks G & Apop: I've been flying by the seat of my pants in Photoshop (presently 7) for 20-odd years. I used to do a lot of 'digital vignettes' with mine and other's models - mostly in flying arrangements; but for the last 6-7 years I've concentrated on drawing (in PS 7) - large formats: the more pixils, the more accurately they can be arranged. But the longer it takes - especially if one is a self-taught amateur..... like me.

Apop: here are several digital montages from the archives - as I said, I don't do much of this anymore. They are constructed from digipics of real models (mine & others) in Photoshop. In retrospect it was good training in learning to use PS tools and applications.

GTX : Didn't take too many pics of this one - the model was very basic (Maquettes M&B; no idea of its' provenance). The modeling community at the time would have labelled it as 'a bar of soap'. It, and the montage are a singularity.My (Cdn.) Province at the time was Newfoundland & Labrador - a large island with a vast seacoast ; a maritime 'what-if' patrol plane was a natural. The pink/green 'national' markings represent the imaginary Republic of Newfoundland.

Great stuff! Those look really sharp - good poses, well-integrated into the backdrops, etc.

Yes - I had forgotten 'til now that I had checked out the Indonesian Surveiller. [they were ahead of the 'Republic' in this, but better late than never]. Also I hadn't noticed Jennings Heilig's nice profile of same in 'Wings Pallette'.

These pics are from the archives - I built the model in 2010 and am no longer in possession of it (indeed of any of my many builds over the years).
It is of course, the Minicraft XF5F-1; thought it might be of interest to the substantial 'what-if' & counter-factual element.

O.W. - It's odd that 2 'contenders' in their respective periods [the XF5F-1 and the XF-90B] ended up attaining their fame as the chosen mounts of the comic book series Blackhawk(s).
