Title: Schweben (hover) Tiger
Post by: Artoor_K on June 02, 2012, 02:57:14 AM
Folks,

A week ago I get an idea to build a hover version of german Tiger. I plan to use AMT Podracer engines as a main propulsion and mount wheels aslant as a anti grav generators. I want to use Leopard 2 cannon instead of standard 88 mm. And my question is : should I? :) What do you think:)

We have this sotra stuff at Area 51 and elsewhere, so go ahead install it on the tank.

Maybe... :) On first forum where I was registered the Tiger was kind of ...sacred. If anybody would like to start whiff modification of Tiger there would be strong resistance and even stronger disregard for any blasphemous experiments over the Tiger tank :)

Where's the option for "HELL YES!!!"?  >:D

What he said.  This is the last place on the web where you should feel compelled to ask "Should I?" about building anything.  It's your muse; build whatever you feel it compels you to build.

Sounds like a cool idea to me! ESPECIALLY if it irritates the sort of JMNs that believe the Tiger to be "sacred". ;)

Treating a subject as sacred is an especially odd attitude to take towards model building anyway. I'm a huge fan of WW2 allied armor but if someone did a grav tank version of a Pershing or Comet, I would love to see it. I've seen a few sci-fi Sherman tanks and some of them have been pretty off the wall but it's never bothered me in the least.

Might be fun to really throw them with a Tiger III from Ringo and Krautman's Watch On Rhine.

Why stop with the Tiger - have an entire German Army hovercraft. Would have worked well for them on the Russian steppe. That is until the Soviets build a T-34 hovercraft!

My only technical recommendation is to stick a huge muzzle brake on the main gun. When suspended on the air cushion a hovercraft is strongly susceptible to recoil knocking it off kilter.

Maus or E-100 hovercraft tank transporter with loading ramp to carry a normal Tiger or Panther internally.

Or have the internal carriage Panther a forward engined 'Merkava Panther' with an aft ramp from which comes a Goliath with legs! Hover - tracks - legs. Then post back on the original web forum to really screw with their minds!

I'm thinking about remake of one of my favourite scenes  from KELLY'S HEROES:
-Now look, Oddball. The trade or the uniforms I can understand.
But to buy this grav tank, you got to be crazy!
-It's a mother beautiful tank!

"There you go with the negative waves again..."

Yours, however, will definitely NOT be junk! Of course I voted "Build It!" and I can't wait to see what you come up with!

Back in the day I "violated" any number of "sacred" Panthers, Jagdpanthers and T-34s to make grav tanks for sci-fi wargames, so that's go-for-it number 19 from me..... ;)

Well , today a friend from IPMS Cracow gave me two AMT Podracer engines :) Also , I get resin tank engine , I don't know for what tank so it will be for hover Tiger :)  Few hours ago I ordered an Italeri Tiger...

I like the touch with the canted fume extractor. It may not actually work anymore as a fume extractor but adds a different and gangster style canted pistol look.

You mean that these three front  "flaps" on each engine of podracer are fume extractors? I thought that they're kind of airbrakes.  Anyway , on this Tiger these canted flaps are airbrakes :)

LOL I'm no pod racer expert! I hated Episode I!

The fume extractor is the tube wrapped around the gun barrel.

Hi!

Still nothing more to show. I bought these sets:
http://www.model-making.eu/products/VILLAGE-ROAD-w-RUINED-HOUSE.html (http://www.model-making.eu/products/VILLAGE-ROAD-w-RUINED-HOUSE.html)
http://www.mojehobby.pl/products/Accessories-and-Guns.html (http://www.mojehobby.pl/products/Accessories-and-Guns.html)

I've never build anything vac-formed before. I've always known that is difficult but I've never thought how much. Also...surprisingly I've spotted two resin figure sets by Jaguar Models:
http://www.jaguarmodels.com/ppics/ja63123.jpg (http://www.jaguarmodels.com/ppics/ja63123.jpg)
http://www.jaguarmodels.com/ppics/ja63134.gif (http://www.jaguarmodels.com/ppics/ja63134.gif)   :D :D :D

I hope that I'll get them this week :)
