Has anyone heard from Densil at Welsh Models recently? I have been trying to place an order with him but haven't had any responses.
-
He has to be still up and running, the Latest News Letter from the Big H has a couple of items from him listed.
Plus he has just updated his website on April 1st with an announcement, new 1/72 727 and the BAe 146 almost ready ---
http://www.welshmodels.co.uk/ (http://www.welshmodels.co.uk/)
-
Yay! He has gotten in contact with me so all is good.

Coming soon: 1/72 BAe 146-200. No pricing yet.
The BAe 146-200 series in 1:72nd scale is due for release early next week as a resin kit with Vac Formed Fuselage. There are in excess of 40 resin parts including a complete detailed cockpit, main undercarriage bay and the option to have the rear airbrake system in either an open or closed position. Decals are by Ray at 2-6 decals in the last Pacific Southwestern Airlines (PSA) livery which had the solid grey titles and horizontal fin flash.

Welsh kit page is here (http://www.welshmodels.co.uk/BAE146.html).
Great base for a MPA or a rough field tactical transport for smaller air forces.
-
There's a 146 still being operated out of YYC (Calgary International), I see it most days. There used to be eight of them parked in the bone-yard but all were sold for converting into water bombers.
-
I had a flew flights in them when Air Canada Jazz used them for the East Coast runs. They would howl when the flaps were extended.
Note the very "unofficial" RCAF lightning bolt.
-
I would LOVE one of those for a long-standing project of mine, but it all depends on the price, of course.
I used to work at BAE Woodford where the 146/RJ was made, so they're close to my heart.
-
They just posted the price. Are you sitting down Harold with beer in hand?
CLS72-28 Multi Media Image Bae 146-200 series....................................................Pacific Southwest Airlines (PSA) 121.00p 108.90p
For you 121. For me, $207 CDN. Hmm. Not today I think.
-
No, I was sitting down drinking tea, which I'm now wiping off my screen.
Well that project is NOT happening in the forseeable future. I can kinda sorta do it with the 1/144th Revell kit, but I had in mind a diorama with figures too and that would have been better in 1/72nd.

Hmm, could be most interesting to combine with an Anigrand B-30 kit.
-
Agreed. They should offer just the wings in both 1/144 and 1/72.

We have finally sold out of MT72-01 - The original Boeing 737-7ES Wedgetail, which will very shortly be superceded by MT72-13 which has many upgraded parts and decals.
Likewise MT72-09 has temporarily sold out awaiting replacement parts and when re-issed will offer new upgrades to include operational US Navy Squadrons.
MT72-12 will be a new P-8A Poseidon which will offer new upgraded parts akin to MT72-13 along with new decals. We will advise the extact date of release which is dependent upon delivery of parts, but are taking advanced orders as usual and the price and full details are on the MT72 page on the website at www.welshmodels.co.uk (http://www.welshmodels.co.uk)

One time I was after some of Welsh Models bits & pieces and asked if I could get them, but Denzel replied saying he doesn't split up kits of parts because he doesn't want a pile of in-complete kits lying around. He did say that he would sell all of the resin bits, or all of the white metal bits from a particular kit though, as they come as separate sets from his supplier.
-
It would appear that a 1/72 Vanguard in coming. Via their Facebook page.
CLS72-22 - the forthcoming Vickers Vanguard in 1:72nd scale - we have our first items back from our suppliers......The patterns are with the resin manufacturers with an 8 week delivery time anticipated, so were hopefully looking for a release date somewhere around Mid August or thereabouts for this beauty.....

Time to start putting my Loonies and Twoonies in my "Vanguard Jar". It won't be cheap.

It would appear that a 1/72 Vanguard in coming.
F&*k! and I've got three Gene Hooker 1/72 Vanguards to build ---- Still -- those white metal bit could be handy ----
-
It would be interesting to do a P-3 equivalent based upon the Vanguard.
-
Time to start putting my Loonies and Twoonies in my "Vanguard Jar". It won't be cheap.
If you use their L188 Electra as a guide it will be around £110.

Does the stash plundering occur after that?

Does the stash plundering occur after that?
It depends. I have set a bio-metric security system using my finger prints. And before you ask, even if you buy a kit from me, I always wipe it clean first and wear gloves. :icon_ninja:

I have set a bio-metric security system using my finger prints.
That's ok...we carry these:

A question for the masses on materials used by Welsh Models.
I see some kits still use white metal for the props and Landing gear. While others use resin.
So why still use white metal? Resin would appear to be the better material.
I hate white metal.

White metal is stronger than resin.
White metal can be reused if the moulding doesn't work out, thereby saving material costs for the moulder.
White metal carries better detail than resin does, unless you utilise pressure resin moulding techniques.
-
It also weighs more (is more dense) than resin, so can be used to ballast the front of tricycle undercarriage aircraft, so they're not tail-sitters.
Moulding the parts in white metal is more efficient than adding weights, especially if there's a lot of glazing in the nose.

Speaking of the P-8 Poseidon. This was posted on the Welsh Model's Facebook page today.
Here are a few of the images that Ray Seppala of Australia sent to us of his build of our Welshmodels 1:72nd scale Boeing P-8A Poseidon RAAF kit which he detailed incredibly well and has offered us a text with his alterations.
" My 1/72 Welsh Models P-8A Poseidon is in the markings of A47-007 of 11SQN, RAAF. The build consisted of scratch building the weapons bay, weapons mounting points on the wings and pylons, many of the ESM and AMS lumps and antennas. I also added various vent blow in doors and the sonobuoy tubes. I reshaped a lot of the kit supplied parts as well. Finally I added AGM-84 Harpoons from a Hasegawa weapons set and Mk48 Torpedoes from a Hasegawa P-3C Orion, they looked close enough to me to replicate the Mk54s the P-8 carries. Decals were from a custom sheet DekLs created by upsizing their 1/200 sheet and it was painted in mainly SMS lacquers. It is a bit rough in some parts but I have spent enough time on it and am calling it finished. "
