Got this classic Dragon kit as part of a package Jeffry Fontaine sent me a few years ago. Hard to believe this kit came out in 1995. That is the year I got out of the USAF. The years have gone by quickly. I ordered a set of AFV Club tracks for it. :o Thankfully,I have a jig for the M26 and M46 tracks,
I will be using a metal barrel. I may put the spare tracks on the back of the turret, The decals are from an IDF Sherman set. No stowage will be added.
-
So that is where my M46 disappeared to :)
Looks like you are off to a good start on this project.

Nice whiff! Makes me wonder if the Israelis had acquired Pershings how long would they have kept using them?

Typically; for as long as they could keep them running.
They still had some M-51's operating in the late-1970's/early-1980's. So, I see no reason why they wouldn't have kept similarly modified M-46's into the mid-80's.

Looking good :)

Fantastic!

Thank you everyone. Pics on Saturday of more progress.

Hmmmm....
New gun, new tracks, or converted to some other purpose?
-
All of the above? ??? ;)
-
Early version of Nagmonshot or Acherzit. I know these are not spelled right.
-
Thanks for the replies everyone. Sorry for not posting any more work until today, Busy week driving and long days. The gap between the muzzle brake and bore evacuator looks a bit wide to me. Plus,I think the mantlet is crooked.
-
Is seriously bad. :)
Don't see many M46 builds. Long gun barrel is mean.

Thank you. The M46 was long overdue when it came out 21 years ago.

Definitely will be a distinctive project when done. I really like the Israeli-fication of the Pershing.

Thank you. Was hoping to get some paint on tonight, but it was too windy.

My apologies for the lack pf progress until now. I did not use the AFV Club links. I really wanted to throw them !@#$%^& things in the garbage. :icon_twisted: I used a set of Hobby Boss M26A1 tracks from a failed model. However, the M46 track run is longer. I used five links more on each side. Those were the only good to come out of that AFV set.
I need to paint the road wheel hubs, and the support rollers the same color as the rest of the tank. I originally used Testors IDF sand. But it came out brown. I used MIG Ammo IDF sand.
-
Nice! :)
-
Looks really well done, and to throw my near-valueless (checks exchange rate, yep down in all markets) opinion out there: I think the hubs and return rollers look fine in their current color - it breaks up the IDF sand nicely.
-
Thanks Old Wombat and LemonJello. :)
-
Looking good and a great choice for the IDF treatment. :)
-
Thank you Claymore.
I was able to get a clear satin coat on tonight. Hopefully,I can get the wash on tomorrow.
-
Just needs some finishing touches.

Subtle weathering is the best weathering, and you've got it down perfectly. I can almost smell the engine exhaust and dust through my screen.

I am hoping I can post finished pics tomorrow. I just need to add some small finishing touches to it.
