Ganja Me 262
« on: May 07, 2014, 12:16:48 PM »
I used to work with a guy who liked the Me 262, loved the Canadiens hockey team, thought Che Guevera was cool, and smoked a LOT of pot.
So I made a plane for him:

and put it on a base:

And even did a little pilot that looked like him, wearing a Habs jersey and a Che beret.

A friend had an ALPS printer at the time, and he did all the markings and leaves in gold chrome. I added the sharkmouth and the all black scheme, cuz, well, I always wanted to do a Me 262 in that style.

And then I had it posted on ARC, back in the early 2000s. I thought "Hey, people will get a chuckle out of this", I even wrote a funny little back story about a guy who sold pot who used the proceeds to buy his own Me 262, and buzzed the DEA planes with it. I concluded the article with the addendum that I don't do pot, sell pot, or even think it's cool.

And then, the fertilizer hit the air conditioner. A guy claimed I was promoting the use of pot, and the piling on began. Soon I was defending my reputation over this silly model, and the squabbling lasted the better part of the day before I realised I needed to say:
"I thought we had settled that if you build a model of a WW II Luftwaffe plane, it does NOT make you a Nazi, but I do a model with pot leaves for markings, and I'm a drug dealer now?"

So that ended the whining.
I haven't posted it online since though. I hope you enjoy it in the spirit it was meant.

Never really been a fan of the Me-262, but the shark mouth/black scheme make it look like a completely different aircraft to these (non-bloodshot) eyes.

All in all, a neat little build.  Well executed and original.

Amazing what some people can complain about on some of these forums.  If such complaints arise here we shall deal with them quickly and efficiently using the tired and true method of public ridicule and floggings.

Nice one!  ;D ;D ;D

Che was a young loony before he got a bad case of politics: tooling around in a dodgy 262 tweaking the authorities tails would have been right up his street.

I do hope you didn't get too authentic with the herbal markings though. It reminds me of the tale of the biker who was nicked for possession of several cannabis leaves. When it came to court, the arresting officer argued that the offending herbage could have been smoked. The biker then pointed out that that was highly unlikely, since the leaves in question were covered in gold paint, buried under eight layers of clear varnish on the tank of his custom bike, and nobody would have known they were even real if he hadn't told someone who told the cops.

There was, as they say, laughter in court...... Theoretically of course, they could have done him for the inferred offence, in that logically, he had to have had the leaves in his possession before they were painted and laquered, but that couldn't have been on the date on the charge sheet so it would have needed a whole new court case, and the unusually enlightened judge strongly advised the police to stop wasting his time before throwing the case out.
