Air combat over Rocroi https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Rocroi

Justification

Here I demonstrated the frech origin of this Sea Fang derivative (Croc de Mer) http://beyondthesprues.com/Forum/index.php?topic=957.msg145044#msg145044  ;)

Messerschmitt is located in Bavaria which in 30 years war was part of Catholic League. You have to know that France while Catholics were helping protestants in this war.

Markings in both cases follow the same scheme: in tail fin what can be considered as national flag; in aft fuselage, coat of arms of correspondent king: Louis XIV and Philip IV; between cockpit and engine, coat of arms of correspondent commander: Duc d'Enghien and Francisco de Melo. In Imperial Messerschmitt case, national Tercio flag is repeted on engine area.
