Airfix Hunter F.Mk.6 in RAF 1938 camouflage and markings.
« on: July 01, 2014, 12:45:03 AM »
I had some leftover decals from my Airfix Hurricane and an old Airfix Hunter. This "What-if?" build is based on this 111 Squadron Hurricane  which participated in the "Fete de l'Air" at Villacoublai, France, during the Bastille Day celebrations on 9 July, 1938. This Hunter participated in the 25th anniversary of the same celebration in 1953, marked as its predecessor. Coincidently the 50+ year-old model has 111 Squadron as the kit decals.

I added nose weight, a tailpipe, and blanking plates in the intakes and wheel wells. The rest is OOB. I used the Hurricane decals and brush-painted the thing with Humbrol, Testors, Floquil, and Citadel paints.

Waste not, want not!

Adios, Larry.

Brilliant way to finish off an old Hunter, very well done!! 8)
On the ATF we had a thread for these trial RAF 111 Sqn. markings, assigning serials and Sqn. codes to most of the Hurri's that went to the Bastille Day celebrations at Villacoublay! :D

Great job, the Hunter looks like it was made for those markings.
