Artoor's entries :)
« on: November 28, 2013, 08:03:38 PM »
So mamy started models, so little time...

First on the list "To be finished ASAP" is this reptile :) Original WIP was started on ARC:
After finishing my first plastic dino which was Velociraptor, also made by Lindberg I  I wanted to make another but bigger one...Then ,a monster came from UK :) I bought a Tyrannosaurus on ebay. First thought was " Holy sh**, It's almost in size of a standard chicken!". Then I examined the parts of my new pet :) A few sink holes, not bad fit (but not good too),nice skin...And again,a lot of strange knobs on skin of dino...I wonder if the guys in Lindberg use to think that every dino had a pimples...Again, there is a need to drill out eyes  >:D and replace them with beads from necklace ...also the arms needs to be lenghten lengthened. Finally ,as Greg Ewald said on http://modelingmadness.com in his review of Lindberg T-rex: "the legs need to be heavily modified if you are going to make a Rex that doesn't look like it just ate a bunch of burritos from the local taco joint, and can't find the can". I want to make a T-rex in run.

This means a lot of cutting, puttying and sanding but I think it can be a nice and fun build...Here is the upper part of head before drilling:

And here are eyes:

I drilled eyes and here is result:

"Now I've got you in my sight With a Goldeneye" :)

I decided to prepare all main parts before beginning modifications:

Arms...waaay tooo shoooort...( now lenghtened)

The sink mark (or rather sink CAVE) is AWESOME :) I've never seen deeper one :)

The tongue was sanded...

And finally...now these eyes are ALIVE! :)

When it comes to aircraft models we first see them, then usually looking into cockpit and wheel wells. And when we see a dino model? First overall look and then? Of course  it dont't have wells, bays or even cockpit  ;) So we look into mounth if it is open :)  First arrived red, then drybrushing in flesh, tongue painted with orange and washed with dark red.Teeths were painted with sand and drybrushed whited when dry. Here is the result:

Then the surgery had began:

Dryfit:

Feet was modyfied so "in-run conversion" is finished :)

I glued together all parts of trex. The holes in foots of my dino are now sealed with pieces of plastic.

I hope I'll finish it this time :)

Hello,

As I said before, I'll stay with dino themes :)
When Metal Gear Rex...

...and some Legos (I don't think that this is still Lego)...

...were fused together...

...the result is movable and bigger than I thought :)

This is so amazing!! how did you affix the Legos and how did you create their anchor and fit points? Drill? I used these same ball cocket joints on one of my models, Lego rocks!

Love the MGS Rex  :-* its just come to life with your improvements

Some of them were drilled and conected with wire from paperclip and awful amount of CA :) Other (f.ex. hip-joint) were just drilled and part of Technic axle used as a anchor. Again awful quantity of CA for (Metal Gear :) ) solid connection.

Since paints for finishing Rex will be available next wednesday and putty on T-rex is not cooperating with me I'll try to finish another one , this time figure. I have permission so without further ado...

Rei Anayami from Neon Genesis Evangelion - condition in 2008

Condition now, after proming, sanding, preshading , airbrushing, drybrushing, wash:

Now worst part-anime eyes

PS:
Since photobucket erased images where...ekhm...some parts of the body were shown , photos of this lady will be done from more...harmless angles :)

I can see how that would be a challenge!!  :o

Looking good so far, blue streaks in the hair? paint or putty?  ???

I cant't find eye decals on Starship Modeler , neither on CultTVman. I'll try to paint them but I got to buy some enamels (easier to remove). Blue streaks are painted , drybrushed in fact.

It may be too late, but Archer Fine Transfers has Eyeball decals, including a couple of anime style eyballs: http://archertransfers.com/CAT_EyeballTatts.html

What do you think about these eyes? I had to paint them but I like it after all, it's really not so difficult as it seemed to be:)

Very well executed! ( red irisies are a little weird, but from what I know of Evangelion, quite appropriate. )
