a neat idea Brian re spatted undercart, def tempting
There is an actual mention of a 'spatted Spitfire' in an old issue of 'Air International' it seems one of the training schools had a Spitfire used for training with, quote, ''locked down and spatted undercarriage fitted similar in form to that of the Miles M.20 due to a number of wheels up accidents''
Unfortunately iv never seen any images of the aircraft in question, altho when discussing same with the late Eric Morgan (of Spitfire 'bible' fame) im assuming a 'tired Mk.1' due to the role and date mentioned, 1940, and also assuming the standard colour scheme for the type of green/earth with probably sky unders and maybe unpainted spats from a suitable light aircraft of the period (altho if i was modelling it id finish it with yellow below just to emphasise the role !)
cheers, Joe
hehe, id happily build more if i could get away with it, just been a quiet week with no summer school students in at the moment, bliss ! calm before the storm i guess
