Title: Capt'n Nils's 1/144 scale Pirate air fleet.
Post by: Spey Phantom on August 01, 2012, 04:21:40 AM
Yarr, i just looks at the swag in my 1/144 treasure chest, and i found me entries ;)
they will be 2 F-14 Tomcats and a Boeing Clipper flyingboat.

the 2 F-14's are old Dragon/DML kits and the clipper is an Airfix kit, might even ad a old Heller Rafale-M to the mix as a lead fighter.
both will be painted and marked up as pirate aircraft with homemade decals. as for paintjobs, im thinking silver, metallic, gold, while and black paints.

the idea is for the tomcats to attack taget ships, taking out the defences, while the clipper is being used to loot the ship of all its wealth and to set of me crew of fearless men, yarr.

im thinking the Clipper will be nicknamed "The Iron Pelican".
might even add rough repair patches to the aircraft, and maybe drybrush some rust.  :icon_beer:

need more ideas, now whre's me bottle of "Ma's old fashioned cider"

Right off the bat, this is so cool it almost hurts, Nils!

With an intro like this, your Pirate Tomcat is sure to "shiver me timbers"!

main assembly on 2 tomcats done, but im still thinking either gear up or down?
might build them gear-up, as its just a basic kit compared to the newer Revell kits.

i have an update, capt'n.

Alast, bad news first. deu to time shortage and a number of requested projects, i will have to cancel "The Iron Pelican", the Boeing Clipper seaplane for the pirate fleet.

and now, good news ahoy!

work has restarted on the 2 F-14 Tomcats, namely the first paintwork, witch will be all-metalic alluminum fuselage with white tail surfaces, and a black/gold nose, wings will be metallic iron with black/gold trim.
however due to time/budget cuts (deu to lack of time/booty, arr, its financial crisis in the Pirate Bizz to  ::) ) the armament will be limited to 1 20mm cannon and 2 AIM-54's on each aircraft, this is to decrease airframe stress and increase the service life of the aircraft.

Th'arr will be pics at dawn  :icon_sleep:

Ahoy there me hardies, sorry that i havnt posted anymore pics of the build process, but i be bringing good news.
thar she blows, me 2 tomcats yarr FINISHED.

started many moons ago, but alast i managed to finish them in time  :)

the result isnt as good as i intended, but its a good result in my eyes none the less  8)

the 2 aircraft are from the South East Asian Pirate Squadron, commanded by Capt Jack Sparrow XII, a distant relative of the legendary pirate.
operating from an old essex-class WW2 aircraft carrier, the Black Pearl VII. these are aircraft belonging to the Captain itself (tailart "pirate on Board") and his trusty men (in this case from sgt. Zachary Turner, aircraft nicknamed "Blue Lass")

Now, Lets go looting  C:-)
