Time for a new project! The kindly folks at Icaerodesign approached to review and build their recent conversion set that allows one to build a Romanian version of the famous MiG fighter. They gave me an Eduard "overtrees" kit, their resin conversion and and an extra baggie of resin treats. In case you missed my review, you can see it here: (http://www.modelersalliance.com/reviews-and-news/218-aftermarket/948-romainian-lancer-1-48-conversion) or here. (http://www.hyperscale.com/2015/reviews/accessories/miglancerconversionreviewcw_1.htm) Let's kick this off!

Now this is going to be a real beauty.

Looking forward to this build with baited breath :P :P The pilot looks very professional too :P :P

Very exciting!! Can't wait to see a more modern warplane getting the ChukW treatment! :)

Thanks, guys! Friends, life has been really busy as of late- but good things are coming. This may be my last update for a couple of months- we'll have to see what happens. In the meantime, Kapitain Andreea is back to show you the latest. Cheers!

Missed the start of this build, somehow. :-\
Awesome work, as usual, Chuk! 8)
-
Again, gorgeous work. Is Eduard's kit a new molding or an adaptation of the old OEZ molding? As I remember, the OEZ kit was quite good when it came out.
-
👍
-
Simply superb as usual :-* ;) ;)
-
I love these builds and hang out for the updates. While I know I may never have the skill or patience to achieve such results it is a pleasure watching a master.

"May never"? ???
Lucky you! :D
"Will never, ever", is more my speed. :icon_crap:
-
WOW, ChukW is building modern jest! Waiting for updates , master :)
-
as usual Chuk I an completely in awe!!!!
Some how I missed the start of this one which is strange for me. I did a project like this a couple of years ago (the Czech "Splinter MiG"), I wish had this as a guide back then...I did the air brakes wrong!
Can't wait for future instalments.
-
Wow- many thanks, Comrades! ;)
Elmayerle, the Eduard kit is all new tooling, and a real Cadillac of a kit. The Brassin stuff is gorgeous, and the Icaerodesign set allows you to not only model a great color schme, but you don't have to paint any of that Russky puke-turquoise interior color. ;)
Once I move a mountain or two, I'll be back with more MiG madness- cheers!

You've got so much talent it's just scary, Chuk!
The detail work is simply exquisite and I like how you used native Romanian currency to give a sense of scale.
I don't think I've seen you build something besides W.W. II subjects, so following along this one will be a treat!

I can see you at New York Fashion Week with a line of hot ladies wear tailored from Nomex and flight and G-suits. You are the Master of Fiddly Bits. I look forward to your further installments. Adios, Larry.
-
Thanks, guys- you're too kind! :D Here's what holding up this project:

All we need to do now is maintain the "showcase" nature the house is in until it sells, get it into escrow, buy the new place up on Whidbey Island in Washington, move and set back up! I appreciate your patience in the meantime. ;)
Cheers!

Kapitan Andrea and I are back in gear! The move went well, and we're adapting to our new lives in a new home and anew place. I won't say it was entirely easy, but we've persevered. I was able to get back to the bench in early December, but this is the first time I've been ready to post again- read on!

Kapitan Andrea & chukw serve up another modelling Master-class! :D
The ex-RAN FAA members approve! 8)

:o The level of detail... wow... EXCELLENT!! :icon_alabanza: :icon_alabanza:

Thanks, my friends!
Side notes: Those grooves in the wing were for a fiber-optic lit version that was never produced. That also explains some odd moldings on the two fuselage bulkheads. There is also a bulkhead to close off the cockpit front included on the clear parts sprue! It's not mentioned in the instructions- a friend pointed that out to me.
Cheers!

I wonder if her G-string matches her G-suit outfit? Don't tell me. Somethings are better left to the imagination. A filthy mind is a terrible thing to waste.
Your ladies are always good for a smile on a ho-hum day.
Keep up the good work, sir!
Adios, Larry.

I believe you once had a book for sale , is there any information on where to find it sir?

Seconded! I didn't get the opportunity 1st time for various reasons, despite my good intentions. :-\

Thanks, guys! Larry, need you even ask? ;)
I still have plenty of books- and I'll do sketch in your copy. http://www.storenvy.com/stores/472326-chukstuff (http://www.storenvy.com/stores/472326-chukstuff)
NOTE: Overseas (from me) buyers- don't let the high postage rate put you off- it's the max for shipping to Dubai. I had to put something in! Look at the general shipping for France, Austrailia, Japan, etc listed. Much better!
Cheers!

Love to get the book, WIFEU (SWMBO) does not agree ::)

Just tell her my art is saucy- but never dirty! :D

Life after a big move throws a lot of surprises at you, along with all of life's regular highs and lows. Just in modeling I've gone through periods of not even looking at the bench, to hours of studying the subject and subsequent squalls of charging ahead and then banging my against the table. It's been about 7 weeks since my last post, so here's a long one for you. Forgive me if I reiterate some basics- my original mission remains to instruct and entertain, and help grow our beloved hobby. Cheers!

Thanks, gents! It's been kindly pointed out to me that GS Mr Color Leveling Thinner, Tamiya yellow cap and regular thinners and even isopropyl rubbing alcohol will work on Mr Surfacer with less or no damage to styrene- great tips!

Those "rude little fellas" look like IRCM units (Infra-Red Counter-Measures) to jam IR-guided SAMs and AAMs. Just about every military flying machine has them these days (well, maybe not trainers, but...). Truly gorgeous and inspiring work.
-
Eye wateringly brilliant installment :) :) Us mere mortals will be taking notes, and notes, and saving pics . . . . . 8)

I suspect they are actually part of the Elisra SPS-20 warning system fitted to the LanceRs.

To paraphrase an old saying, "I may not know much about modern jets, but I know what I like!"
And I really like where this baby is going, Chuk! Wish I had but 1/10th your patience & skill for detailing, it sure is a treat to catch the play-by-play!
Can't wait to see the Romanian markings! Far too few of them 'round these parts...

Many thanks, my friends! I appreciate the info on thoses protuberances- as for modern stuff, like John Snow I know nothing. Cheers to all- and to those I met at the Seattle show (and you know who you are ;) - extra cheers!

Thanks to you, Jeffry and Darryl! I'm still waiting for my "mystery project", so I've pressed on with the LanceR. You do a lot with scrap wire, brass tube and styrene if you put your mind to it!

Thanks, guys! Better late than never, I hope! I've been busy with life and stuff- including a build article for TMMI. I'll return to this build, though- I hate to leave things unfinished!
It's also a bit late in the day, but here's a piece for all our Romanian friends!

Good to see you Chuck, been missing your builds.
And better late than never.
