Latest 3D artwork
« on: September 06, 2019, 09:31:54 AM »
The most recent project, a new art piece and a model of sorts, I made it as a donation
to a local arts organization, the Schack Arts Center, for their Fall Silent Auction fundraiser.

A roughly half-size replication of a 15th century BCE Egyptian flint-bladed sickle. Mahogany,
ebony, wenge, rosewood, white acrylic (to approximate the flint) and graphite epoxy
(both as adhesive and to simulate the pitch used to secure the "flints", so yes, it's purposely
visible).

It's mounted on a 12" X 12" hardboard panel faced pre-primed 1.5" thick frame that was supplied
by the arts organization, it will be on display with works by other artists all on the same supplied
panel. The panel is coated with a gold gesso, and the sides covered with 1/16th mahogany,
which you can't see because in my usual fashion I forgot to get a proper series of photos.
 :-\
I'll go get some proper non-phone photos when it's hung.

If anyone in the Greater Puget Sound area wants to go bid the auction is from Sept. 12th to 19th,
the final night being their annual Pints & Pumpkins event where you can drink beer, look at art,
watch glassblowers and schmooze.

Interesting design and very nice work.

Hey wait, that looks missing part Z-98 from my XP-19D model!

Seriously though that's got a magnificent sculptural quality to it I find very pleasing.

Outstanding fine art, Mr JCF!

That looks fantastic! It has a 60's vibe to it... it could also pass as an alien tool or weapon (Klingon crest comb?)
