Bruce McCall is an insane artist who is likely best known for his "New Yorker" covers. He's a Canadian who lives and works in the US, and one day, I'd like to meet the guy. I think we may be related, or possibly dropped on our heads as babies in the same way, or something. If I ever grow up, I want to be him.

That's brilliant!  ;D 8)

Slightly spooky too, because I've been thinking about a Beetle-based sci-fi mickey-take (of a very different kind) myself of late.

I love the way the Beetle's bonnet panels are carried down the new elongated nose: that can't have been easy...

I think I did that with putty along the sides, and a strip of styrene for the middle one. I masked off the panels, puttied the beggebers out of the sides, and sanded like mad to get it all lined up. I think. It was 7 years ago and I didn't do a build record. It wasn't difficult, I recall that much.
