For our Tank and Stealth geeks...
« on: April 02, 2014, 01:08:40 PM »
Looks like the Poles are gonna be the ones to figure out practical cloaking systems!

http://foxtrotalpha.jalopnik.com/is-polands-stealthy-pl-01-the-tank-of-the-future-1554395391/all

For the folks who've been following my "MH-53N Pave Low V" project, this thing's the same technologies as I envisioned being fitted as part of Blackout's cloaking suite. Sometimes, truth really IS stranger than fiction! LOL

Greg, I wasn't commenting so much about "reduced radar signature" but the infrared and possibly future optical systems. :) Just thought it might be another piece of WHIF-bait...

Gotcha, amigo--not trying to be argumentative, though it's easy for me to come off that way even without intent. Mind pointing out what they are, for us of Weak Google-Fu? :)

Second one, that muzzle brake looks almost identical to PL-01... then again, muzzle brakes don't mean much, look at the Leopard 2 vs. M1A1/A2 even though they use almost the exact same gun. LOL

First one is a French AMX-30 Stealth Demonstrator.

The second is the Swedish The CV90-120T Stealth Tank.  I saw it the Defence & Security Equipment International (DSEi) Tade show a few years back.

THAT explains the similarity, maybe... PL-01 is supposed to be a development in part from CV90 engineering if I read the article right.

If you use the sort of active stealth systems being developed by BAe, it is actually very impressive how visually an AFV can become in the visual and IR spectrums.

By who???  It has been BAE Systems since November 1999…more than enough time for the name to settle in.

I used to work for a company called the Australian Submarine Corporation then they started building surface ships and were renamed just ASC, no meaning just three letters.  Gotta love marketing consultants  ;D

Greg,

I am recovering from the 'flu.  I have just spent a week flat on back, either suffering high fevers or dreadful chills.   Today, my mind is still largely composed of mush.  Today it is BAe as far as I am concerned.  We both know whom we are talking about.  Is pedantry really necessary?

Battlezone was probably my favourite video game.  Not a lot of distractions in-game so concentration on shooting long distance was always great fun.  The enemy missiles were a challenge to out maneuver and kill but it worked if you were quick enough.

If you want to try your hand at playing Battlezone you can do so at this link: Play Atari Battlezone
Best of all you do not have spend money to play it :)
