HMCS Coho: Canadian Stealth Submarine
« on: February 03, 2014, 12:38:58 PM »
Developed in great secrecy in the 1980s, the Coho Class of submarines were a revolutionary design in submarines. Designed to mimic the acoustical, sonar and visual look of a really really large salmon, the Coho class only saw action in one conflict, the 1990s Salmon War with Alaska. Deployed to interfere with the American fishing fleets, the Cohos would merely sail into the nets and drag the unsuspecting fishing boat down until it swamped. Any subs that were sighted were dismissed as drunken fishermen telling sea tales. The whole episode became so frustrating for the Alaskan based fishing fleets that they returned to the negotiation table and worked out the North Pacific Salmon Treaty with Canada. Not bad work for never having to fire a shot, eh?

Unfortunately, two years later, a Korean drift netter entangled HMCS Chinook, and videotaped it surfacing. The cat was out of the bag...reparations are still being paid by the Canadian Government to angry Alaskans.

Or, what to do with the Skilcraft "Visible Trout". 1/72 "scale". Fibre optics and LEDs for lighting.
Another of my olden goldens.
