Title: Egypt switches back to Russian (or perhaps Chinese) equipment

Something I read earlier this week that might make for some interesting scenarios:

All Over Again: Egypt Looks Beyond the USA for New Arms

Nov 14, 2013 14:46 UTC by Defense Industry Daily staff

For most of the Cold War, Egypt’s military was a Soviet client. Every war with Israel was fought with weapons that were predominantly Russian, and Russian pilots, air defense troops, and other specialists even fought in combat beside their Egyptian counterparts. All that changed with the Camp David accords, and the flood of American military aid dollars soon translated into a military whose high-end equipment was predominantly American.

Hostility from the current US administration after the Muslim Brotherhood was removed from power is changing the relationship again, and Egypt is looking beyond the USA for equipment. The Russians sense an opportunity to begin bringing Egypt back into the fold, and the Egyptian military’s stocks add plausibility to the idea. Is Egypt about to flip again? And who else is in the mix

Could be interesting to see some Egyptian T-90s or Su-35s or perhaps some J-17s or similar.  Maybe even some T-50s or J-20s???

And what about the possibility (remote IMHO) for an M1A1 or similar being closely inspected by Russia or China?

Other thoughts?

My best friend is half-Egyptian. If I said anything xenophobic or otherwise nasty, she'd kick my arse!!!! Not that Egyptians are unfriendly or anything hehe...he ...........

Speculatively, I don't see T-50s et al being on the shopping list as it's my observation that Egypt play for numbers and availability rather than silver bullets and rather nascent ones at that. So nearer Su-30M2 (outside chance of Su-35S equivalent) or Mirage 2000-9?

Reviving this one, I recently read that Egypt and Russia were talking re possible export sales of the new T-14 tank.
