Title: Voile Noir
Post by: Jeffry Fontaine on January 19, 2013, 02:11:05 AM
I found this on Gizmodo and followed the link back to Vimeo for more details.  Titled "Voile Noir (http://vimeo.com/artfx/voilenoir)" the film was created by Michaël Balthazart, Clément Granjon, Quentin Sauvinet and Raphaël Gaudin for your viewing pleasure.

There are a shed load of what-iffy things and alternate history ideas in this inspiring little video.  I am still trying to figure out the ancestry of the twin engine attack aircraft.  Looks like a lot of B-25 but there are some other features that are still a mystery.  The fighter/interceptor aircraft are also a bit perplexing.  Leave that to the rest of you to sort out.

That is very nice to look at.  You are correct re the B-25ish bomber - looks a bit like a Manga version of it.  The escort fighter has a heavy dose of Bf109/Ju-87 too by the look, though once again with a suitable mangaish/punk twist (bit like skycrawlers).  The attacking fighters are a bit harder - they certainly look odd with the very distinct anhedral.  Either way, very pleasing, though probably best to watch with brain switched off (why does bomb have what looks like shrouded propellors in tail?...aaarrrggghhh!!!)

Oh, and I like the jets at the end too.
