Title: Modern Flying Tigers...of sorts
Post by: GTX_Admin on February 20, 2022, 01:33:05 AM
Random idea:  With cross straight tensions getting higher, Taiwan looks to improve its defences further.  Add to this a desire by the US to be more active in its defence but also not wanting to 'formally' station US Military forces in country.  Result, something akin to a modern "Flying Tigers' is created with US supplied platforms, flown by American pilots but nominally part of the ROCAF's strength and wearing ROCAF markings.  Possible way for the likes of F-15Es, F-35s and related to get into ROCAF markings.

The Flying Tigers or an elite organization of aviation enthusiasts like the Blackhawk Squadron (Quality Comics/DC Comics) (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackhawk_(DC_Comics))?

ISTR that there was a novel put out some 30 or so years ago which had an international version of the Flying Tigers opeating in Iran,  It's long enough ago that I don't remember the title.

But on the main subject, I could see something like that happening under a competent US president whi needed some plausible deniability.  It could get very interesting if they bought their armaments internationally and you got some truly different weapons fits on the aircraft they use.
