Title: Four legged inspirations
Post by: Story on January 16, 2022, 10:13:30 PM
Horses. Mules. Donkey. Burros. ETA: CAMELS AND LLLAAAAAMMAAAAS, OH MY!

Didn't find a pre-existing thread.

Noticed they showed up in some post-apocalyptic builds.
US Army Special Forces are teaching their students basic horsehandling during the ROBIN SAGE exercises.
Then there was the movie inspired by true events. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/12_Strong
Most of the Nazi army during WW2 was horse-drawn.

Saw this today - Liberty class merchant ship dockside at Antwerp, probably very late in WW2.

"Twenty Llamas for Argentina's Army" sounds like a Spanish-language comedy movie concept.

https://novacomunicaciones.com.ar/noticias-nacionales/el-gobierno-de-jujuy-le-entrego-20-llamas-al-ejercito-argentino-para-incrementar-la-capacidad-de-logistica-en-zonas-de-alta-montana/

I crack myself up, I really do. But you folks knew that already.

The masks are being worn, in this instance, not because of COVID but to prevent the handlers copping a mouthful of llama spit. ;)

The Llama on the right is sizing up his victim.

It is checking range, wind speed and direction, humidity, barometric pressure.

Errr...dare I point out that Llamas are part of the Camelid family (includes camels) and not equines?

I remember this, from when I actually build Nazi stuff.

Now the manufacturers will have you fall down the animal-drawn "Must Build Every Variant" rabbit hole. ANZAC vs Turkish Cavalry would be good, though the Turkish Cav reportedly usually took off when they saw ANZACs coming.

To be fair, I probably signed a payroll for this nitwit at some point.

If it has four but only really uses two, does that count?

I think they trialed but in the end determined that such terrifying weapons were against the rules of war and humanity...and returned to simple nuclear weapons which were considered safer and more acceptable. ;)
