F-6F Hellcat...first model in HOW long?
« on: January 03, 2012, 04:36:11 AM »
Figured it was time to get back in the model-building game after a couple of years away from the bench.  Instead of returning to one of my prior, in-progress builds, I decided to start with something very basic, no major conversions, to ensure I enjoy the process of re-learning the Olde Skills.  The Otaki/Arii 1:48 F-6F Hellcat seemed like a good starting point.  Wish me luck!    ;D

Definitely good to see you posting work in progress images again!  Looking forward to seeing what you will do with this kit.

That brings back memories. I remember building some of the Otaki kids when I was wee lad.

Luck? Heck you've got more talent & skill in your pinkie finger than some of us mere mortals have in our entire bodies (large tho' mine may be...)!

It's great to see you back at the modeling bench, Mr Howling Mouse! I have every confidence your Hellcat will both delight and amaze!

Thanks, guys.  Funny how nervous being back at the bench can be at first.  And Jeff, I hear ya re: the WUH.  But, first, something very tame:

Definitely good to see such a talented modeler back at the bench and getting the rust out.

I'll be looking forward to whatever you do with this one.

It's great to see you still have that incredible talent for detailing, Mr Howling Mouse!

Seeing the airframe and wings on like that has my mind reeling with all the paint scheme and marking possibilities.

It will, my friend...it will (for a Hellcat, anyhow).

Ron: great idea.  I'm off to get another one of these kits, then!   ;D

Let me know if you need any maple-leaf roundels or red ensigns for this baby, Mr Howling Mouse. I may have a few extra.

Thanks, BdB and TBG: it's all good.  I'm going to do it in a scheme I once saw a Corsair rendered in on a boxtop for a Hobbycraft kit.

If so, that Dark Slate Grey/Extra Dark Sea Grey camo and roundel with bars should look great on a Hellcat!
