Since everyone else is doing it, I think it is time to have an official "Beyond The Sprues" T-Shirt with the signature logo we use at the top of the page.  Just the "Beyond The Sprues" portion without the chimera.

Probably not the first one to consider this but I am posting it here to see if others would be inclined to wear (advertise) our forum in public :)

These T-Shirts could be given away as prizes for the various group builds in lieu of a model kit or some other material thing.

I'd be interested in one or two - tshirts are comfy.

Perhaps Hoodies and pullovers/sweatshirts could also be an option but these are unfortunately much more expensive.

Have you considered Parkas?  :o

A few questions Jeff:

Any idea on a per unit cost?
Are they brand new #11 blade proof? Kevlar weave?
Are they Tamiya Green Putty resistant? Gortex like material?
Will they have sleeve pockets to hold X-acto knives and sanding sticks?

 ;D ;D ;D

I am giving up listing them. They all end up on the shelf of procrastination anyways.

Look carefully at the various ways of doing this. You don't neccessarily have to get a bunch of t-shirts printed in various sizes up front and them sit staring at them for years as you try to sell them.

There are companies that make merchandising ("merch") for amateurs and small "operators", youtubers in particular, where you upload your design to their site, link wannabe buyers to it, and they then print out the t-shirts or whatever TO ORDER, in return for their cut, of course.

The advantages are:

you don't have to run a webshop/shipping operation yourself

no minimum order level

no up-front investment

no risk of over-stocking

greater variety of merch (t-shirts, mugs, wristbands, whatever).

Issue to consider are:

how much do they charge for purchase and shipping

how much percentage do they want

where do they ship from: you don't want postage costs to make it unattractive from the majority of customers. Some companies will produce some items locally to the customers, i.e. if it's a US company with a UK buyer, they'll sub-contract the job to a UK printer who'll then only charge local postage, rather than having to pay shipping and tax from the USA.

Note that I've no personal experience of using these services and am not recommending any particular one:

This is a company that a lot of youtubers use: https://www.districtlines.com

Other companies do it on a crowdfunding basis, similar to Kickstarter. This is one example: https://represent.com/

Just a quick MS Paint job to see what a conservative looking logo would look like.  See attached image.

Exactly what I was thinking Harold.  My recent experience with an on-line T-Shirt purchase from a company called Society6 (society6.com) had me thinking about that as the easiest way to get it done.  Though the cost for the pair of shirts I did purchase was in the neighborhood of ~$22.00/each before the cost of shipping was factored in.  Expensive but I consider it to be an excellent learning experience.

Link to Society6 product page showing the "Federation Anarchy" T-Shirt that I purchased:

Thanks Jon,

That was going to be the next question to determine who had the original artwork.  If you can contact Mike and find out how much a couple shirts would cost with the BTS logo that would be swell.

My personal shirt size preference would be 3XXXL/Tall if that is possible on a medium to heavy weight cotton blend T-Shirt.  Once the garment has been washed it usually shrinks down to a permanent 2XXL size.  The Society6 shirts are only available in 2XX so I run the risk of having a shirt too small if I don't take care in washing it in cold water and hang it to dry on its own.

*** probably be a good idea to add an abbreviated URL "www.beyondthesprues.com" to the logo at the bottom of the logo.

Here's a quickie strip down of the logo text from the banner, and said art imported into the
the shirt designer on the Advantage website.

Thanks Jon,

I like that a lot.  Color preferences/choices I hope include dark colors to hide the gravy and sauce stains :)

Shirt type (cut/material/etc.) and colour choices are many.

I just picked that green because it kinda looks like the forum default colour scheme. ;)

Join? Join what? There is a contact form on the front page, but that's it.

The website is the brand new one that just went online (much better than the old), so not everything is working, but the
the Design A Shirt page works. The Gallery of previous work is also a 'work in progress'.

Exactly what I was thinking in regards to "Brand Awareness/Product Awareness" to possibly promote interest in our forum and as a means of identifying each other at modeling events.  :)

I would be interested in two or three T-Shirts if the price is right.  Though for some of us here the postage might be a bit steep in getting the items shipped across the ponds.

Jon is still working on getting the logo printer ready and send it off to Advantage Screenprinting

I opted for a Hanes brand T-Shirt as I have worn enough of them over the years to know they are a good product.  I have chosen the Advantage Screen Print for the Hanes brand 'Ringspun Cotton Beefy-T' as my preferred brand of T-Shirt.  The available colors for this shirt type are:

Charcoal
Black
White
Deep Navy Blue
Deep Red
Light Steel

I am going to purchase four T-Shirts for my own use in the following colors:

Light Steel
Deep Navy Blue
Charcoal
Black

The Beyond The Sprues logo will be one color in an effort to cut down on printing costs.  I am hoping that on a darker color shirt that this monochrome logo will be in contrast to the shirt color and stand out for all to see.

Anyone else that wishes to obtain a shirt with the Beyond The Sprues logo should express their interest now.  I am hoping that unit prices will be less than $20.00 per shirt, including the logo.

This project is not going to happen over night, I look at seeing my shirts being delivered several months from now, somewhere around July or August if it happens sooner than that I would be elated but I am not getting my hopes up for anything being delivered for several months from now.  So patience is going to be a requirement in this endeavor.  The next question that needs to be answered is how will the shirts be delivered?  If the company that prints the shirts also handles the delivery of the items to every individual that orders one then the problem is resolved.  However if sending the shirts out falls on one of us then getting the shirts sent out will take some extra time and effort and could add to the costs.  We cross that bridge when we get to it.

yes still interested. Most probably only one unit though, liking the Light Steel colour or perhaps Charcoal. As I am over the seas and far away, I expect a bit more for shipping etc etc.

Still it will be a unique item that must be aired at appropriate Modelling events. :)
