Title: GAZ-69A
Post by: Frank3k on April 11, 2012, 01:45:30 AM
This is the Bronco 1/35 Gaz-69A kit. Not a whif, although I was sorely tempted to send it flying through the air more than once - so it was almost a flying car. This is the most over-engineered and needlessly complicated kit that I've ever built. Not a whole lot of fun in the 8 weeks it took to put together...

Hey, howya doin?

The figure is from an ICM Soviet Tank Crew set. The striped shirt (Telnyashka) is from a decal I made, and from the color, this makes the guy either a paratrooper or a Spetsnaz.

Now I'm on the Meng pickup, which is like a modeling vacation!

While it may have been a bugger to put together, it sure looks good.  :)

I second that comment!  Glad you did not bust it up in frustration.

Thanks guys. It really was a frustrating build.  I was expecting something simpler, like the Trumpeter BJ212 which builds up just as nicely.

It may have been a tooth-grinder but the outcome was well worth the work!  :)

I actually tried to make a vodka bottle for him... The figure's original hand had him smoking a cigarette, but it just looked like a lump of plastic. I used a hand from another kit and to paraphrase Lrr from Omicron Persei 8 - "dude, his hand is huge!"

If his hands are huge, its a safe bet he's just back from Afghanistan...

Nice build, Frank-I can see my self in one of those ( with the top down ), racing across the steppes
in pursuit of my Samoan attorney...

Stretched clear sprue can work for bottles (although it may take a few tries to get the b@gger straight!). I've had success with clear  bottles for 1/24th but you'd likely need a smaller diameter sprue for 1/35th.

You can also buy 1/35 bottles in various colours.
